Sometimes we get so lost in our thoughts that it feels impossible to regain peace,
Serenity and clarity.
The mind can be so chaotic,
So busy,
So noisy.
It's just turmoil up there.
It can be very distressing,
Demoralising,
You might even feel in despair.
So what we're going to do is a practice that helps to re-centre and ground your attention so that you are not lost in this chaotic mind storm.
Simply become very aware of the sensations in the body.
What is the felt experience of the body?
So completely disengaging from the mind,
No longer trying to wrestle with thoughts,
No longer desperately trying to calm the mind down or find a resolution for the problems in the mind.
Instead,
Simply bring the entirety of your awareness into the body.
Allow yourself to breathe slow,
Deep,
Intentional breaths and simply focus your attention onto bodily sensations.
Notice that the mind is very complicated,
Very complex.
There's a lot of conflict and chaos in thoughts and thinking,
But the bodily sensation is remarkably simple.
Just notice the raw,
Unprocessed sensation of the body and simply stay here.
You can rest now as this.
And don't be frustrated if the mind is still chattering away.
It can feel very urgent.
The mind always presents these situations and scenarios like they are an emergency,
But grounded and centred awareness in the present moment sees that there is no emergency,
There's no urgency to do anything.
It's more important now.
Simply breathe,
Be aware of the sensations in the body.
And there's a gentle,
Gradual slowing down,
Slowing the momentum of energy.
No longer so agitated and restless.
There's just a vague,
Negative feeling,
Charge to the current experience,
But that is all.
It's not a crisis.
It's just uncomfortable.
You are always safe to return to the bodily sensations.
When lost in overthinking or anxious thoughts,
Stuck in a mind storm or a mind attack,
Simply redirect attention to the body in this way.
As many times as you can.
As necessary.
And you will find you have this power to regain your serenity and peace.
Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.
I hope you're feeling a little better with this one.
Take care,
Be well,
And stay present.
