Welcome to the desert night meditation.

You will be guided through an immersive journey of falling asleep under the stars of the Egyptian desert.

Find a comfortable position and just focus on my voice as I am guiding you into a deeply restful state.

Night has fallen over your camp in the rocky landscape that rises only a few kilometers away from the shore of the Red Sea.

As you are breathing the balmy air you can notice just a hint of salt water smell.

Your camp is nested in the opening of a desert canyon.

Just a few hours ago the sun set behind the canyon walls.

You can still feel its warmth radiating from the sandy ground and the rocks around you.

You are lying under the open sky on a bed made of braided twigs with a beautiful handmade rug on top of it.

Somehow it is more comfortable than any mattress you have ever slept on.

There is a cozy blanket right next to you but you don't need it yet.

The night air has just the right temperature.

It is nearly hard to tell where your body ends and the night begins.

You are taking a deep breath in and slowly letting it out.

All your body weight is held and supported by your bed of branches.

You can drop the weight of your legs,

Of your shoulders,

Your feet and your head.

Taking another deep breath in and fully letting go on the exhale you start to notice how a deep sense of comfort and peace is rising up inside of your body.

There is this cozy feeling spreading out from your feet,

Up the calves and thighs,

Spreading out in your hips and back and belly,

Through your chest and shoulders,

Up the neck and into your jaw,

Face and forehead.

Then you begin to notice how this deep sense of peace enters your mind.

Just like the nightly heaven above,

A cozy,

Calming darkness comes over your mind that has been so busy during the day.

All those important and not so important thoughts are coming to a natural place of rest now and you can easily just let them go.

From your mind the peaceful feeling starts to flow down to your heart and your belly.

Any tension that is still lingering there is now dissolving into the warm desert night.

You know you are safe here.

From behind the large boulders that mark the entrance to your desert camp you can hear the soft chatter of the three Bedouins who are sitting there by a little fire,

Keeping guard all night long.

Not because there is anything in particular to guard you from,

But simply to make you feel completely safe and protected.

In the morning,

When the sun will rise again over the Red Sea,

You will join them at their fireplace,

Sharing some tea and some smiles,

Feeling deeply that you are welcome here,

Even as the only word you can say to them in their language is shukran,

Which means thank you.

With a little smile on your face,

You can start to feel your mind drifting away,

Slowly floating off to sleep.

You are taking one last glance at the night sky over the sleepy desert.

There is no artificial light for miles around you,

So the number of stars you can see here is uncountable.

You can even see the Milky Way and oh,

There was a shooting star.

You have nothing to wish for other than a safe and restful night of sleep.

And as you close your eyes and sink even deeper into your bed and into the peaceful flow of your breath,

You know that your wish has already been granted.
