Good evening,

It's Gina here,

Tonight we're going to join Norena as she discovers a magical lagoon.

So get comfortable in your bed,

And make sure your body is ready to rest.

Far beneath the rolling waves,

Norena the mermaid swam slowly beside her best friend Calso,

A sea turtle with a smooth green shell.

They had spent the whole afternoon exploring together,

Drifting through tall forests of kelp,

Weaving between coral arches and following gentle currents that carried them through quiet underwater valleys.

Calso paddled towards Norena.

Where to now?

He asked,

His voice warm and calm.

Norena smiled,

Somewhere peaceful,

I can feel I'm getting a little sleepy.

They swam side by side,

Letting the current guide them.

The ocean around them softened,

The water felt warmer,

And the colours grew deeper as the sunlight faded from above.

Then Calso paused,

Norena,

Look,

Ahead of them,

Tapped between two coral towers,

Was a narrow entrance,

Draped in long strands of seaweed.

From behind the curtain of green,

They could see a gentle steady light,

A soft warm glow like lanterns.

Norena's eyes widened,

I think I know what this is.

Once they swam closer,

Instead of an open passage,

They were met with a tangled wall of drifting seaweed that had grown across the way.

Long strands curled together like spaghetti,

Blocking the entrance.

Calso bumped gently into it,

Thump,

Norena pressed against it with her hands.

Oh no,

She whispered,

How do we get through this?

Calso squinted,

We could swim around,

But that would take ages.

Norena shook her head,

Or we could push it,

But it's so thick.

Calso suddenly perked up,

Wait,

Remember what the ribbon earls do?

Norena's eyes brightened,

They wriggled through narrow spaces.

They looked at the seaweed wall again,

Not thick everywhere,

There was one small gap near the bottom,

But it was a little tight.

Norena peeled through,

We can fit if we weave like the earls do.

Calso giggled,

Let's wiggle.

Norena laughed,

Wiggle it is.

Together they twisted,

Wriggled and tucked their bodies and tails and slid through the winding gap.

Calso nearly got stuck for a moment.

Oh no,

My shell.

But Norena gently nudged him and he popped through.

They both laughed with delight.

We did it,

Norena cheered.

Calso puffed proudly,

Nothing stops great explorers.

They brushed sand from the scales and flippers,

Then looked ahead.

Behind the seaweed curtain,

Soft light glowed,

They had arrived.

The tunnel opened into a quiet lagoon,

Calm and still.

The sand was pale and smooth beneath them,

And tiny fish drifted lazily in slow,

Peaceful loops.

And there,

Moving in gentle patterns through the water,

Were the glowfish,

Round,

Golden bodied fish with small fluttering fins that let off a soft,

Steady light,

Not too bright,

Just enough to warm the water around them.

Their light rose and softened in a slow rhythm.

Calso whispered,

It's beautiful.

Norena nodded,

They always gather here when the day ends.

They settled onto the sandy floor,

Side by side.

The lagoon felt protected and calm.

The glowfish drifted closer in circles,

Moving at the same slow pace as the water.

Norena placed a hand on Calso's shell,

This is the perfect place to finish the day.

One friendly glowfish came close,

Pulsing softly as if inviting them to breathe with it.

Let's float with Norena and Calso for a moment.

Imagine the lagoon is around you,

Quiet,

Gentle and steady.

And imagine the glowfish showing you how to breathe slowly.

We'll breathe just like they do.

Breathe in,

One,

Two,

And breathe out,

One,

Two,

Three.

Letting your body soften.

And again,

In,

One,

Two,

And out,

One,

Two,

Three.

Once more,

In,

One,

Two,

And out,

One,

Two,

Three.

The lagoon feels peaceful and the water holds you softly.

Everything is slow,

Steady,

Safe.

Norena yawned as Calso curled beside her,

His shell warm against the sand.

The glowfish drifted in a loose circle around them.

The ocean outside hummed quietly,

Almost like a lullaby,

And Norena's eyes fluttered closed.

Thanks for joining us on this adventure tonight.

If you've enjoyed it,

Perhaps you'd like to join us again for another adventure tomorrow.

Until then,

Goodnight my friend.
