The poem reflects on the concept of change, describing it as a force that can be initiated by one's inner voice. Change is depicted as dynamic, taking various forms and colors like a picture. The poet notes the subjective nature of change, influenced by individual feelings and emotions. The poem suggests that honesty about one's emotions is crucial for effective change and that concealing them can hinder progress. There's an acknowledgment of the uncertainty that change brings, symbolized by the future labeled as "the unknown." The poem encourages taking action, breaking free from inertia, and setting a new direction. Ultimately, it advocates embracing change as a natural and necessary part of life, comparing it to the winds that bring transformation.

The Winds of Change For some change can start off with a voice,

Comes from within to without to rejoice,

Speaks its mind in lots of different ways,

Conjures up games and very often plays.

At times it can be like a picture,

Black and white often like a scripture,

Now and then it can grow and expand and other times it can appear a little bland.

The truth is it depends how you feel,

Being honest with those emotions can conceal,

Concealing them from the rest of the world,

Slowing down change because you felt hurled,

Hurled into that future they call the unknown,

Standing still on those seeds you've just sown,

Knowing deep down you need to take action,

A nudge at snails pace be it only a fraction.

A small movement now in setting your direction will leave dazzling memories and a lasting affection.

Learn to let go,

Which for some might sound strange,

For the wonderful and wise is just the winds of change.
