Welcome to a short tutorial on the Anusara Invocation, which is sung/chanted either once or three times before an Anusara Hatha Yoga asana class. If you enjoy the Anusara style, it's lovely to be able to join in the chant. In this tutorial, I sing it through for your three times, and then we practice together using 'call and response.' I do hope this helps you to learn the mantra and I look forward to having you join my live-streamed asana classes here on Insight Timer (most Saturdays at 4:30 pm GMT).

Welcome to this little tutorial on the Anusara invocation.

The Anusara invocation comes from the Niralambaya Upanishad and is sung either once or three times before the start of every Anusara Yoga Asana class.

It's a beautiful way to bring us all together,

This wonderful,

Very sweet melodic chant and allows us to join all of our energy together in remembering what this is all about,

Uniting ourselves with consciousness and saying yes to life.

So in this tutorial what I will be doing is I will start by singing the invocation three times and then we'll move on and I will sing using the call and response method.

So what that means is I will sing one line and then leave enough space and time for you at home to recall that or re-chant that back.

I'll do the same with the second and so on.

And then at the end there'll be a chance for us to,

Across the vibes here,

Sing it one more time together.

So you could use this little tutorial in a couple of ways,

Either as a first timer or a complete introduction,

Just replay the call and response again and again.

But if you're beginning to get familiar,

You could replay the first bit where I sing it three times.

You could be replaying that a few times over and I find learning by repetition a powerful way of allowing these mantras to be absorbed and get my tongue around maybe any unfamiliar pronunciations etc.

So please use this tutorial in a way that seems suitable for you.

Okay so we'll start by me singing it three times.

So take a comfortable seat,

Especially if you're joining in with me.

Let's take a couple of lovely deep centering breaths and we'll start the invocation with three oms.

Om Om Om Om Near Alambaya Tejdya Se Om And now we're going to try this call and response.

So I will sing one line and then you join me as I sing it a second time.

Okay so once again find a comfortable seat,

Make sure you're sitting well,

Lift your throat,

This will all help the sound of your vibration and the sound of your chanting.

Okay so we'll start with just one on this time and then with the first line.

Okay so relax,

Join me in one on,

Take a deep breath in.

Om Join me.

Om Join me.

Satyadhananda murtaaye Nishprapanchaya shantaya Join me.

Nishprapanchaya shantaya Near Alambaya Tejdya Se Join me.

Near Alambaya Tejdya Se Now join me as we sing it through one more time but together.

Inhale.

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave Satyadhananda murtaaye Nishprapanchaya shantaya Near Alambaya Tejdya Se Om Well done.

So do enjoy playing this recording,

This little tutorial over and over again as many times as you need to and eventually it will come to you I promise and you'll be able to join in this gorgeous Anusara invocation as you join my asana classes.

I hope to see you in my live stream classes whenever you can make it Saturday afternoons at 4.

30.

Take deep care.
