Greetings my friends!
The Elven Wizard here in this Wizard Wisdom video and audio.
I want to talk to you about the Sacred Elixir of Mead.
And you can see here I've got a good friend of mine,
Golden Coast Mead.
Their Spiced Sour Mead here,
Which is quite delicious.
Made with regenerative wildflower honey,
Cardamom,
Ginger,
And mace.
It is delightfully delicious.
They're in the San Diego area.
Make sure to check them out if you come through.
Tell them the Elven Wizard sent you.
Now,
Mead.
If you know some of my work,
I love mead.
I love sharing about mead.
For about seven years now I've been doing live in-person mead ceremonies,
Which I'll talk about.
I also have an upcoming online experience called the Mead Quest.
It's going to be an online mead summit with me and other speakers talking about the many magical things of mead.
It is a powerful elixir that was found throughout the ancient world and has kind of faded away over the last few hundred years.
And I've been on a quest to bring it back.
So let's dive in a bit about mead,
Why I think it's so important,
And why you might want to check it out yourself.
So at its base,
Mead is honey wine.
It's fermented honey with water turned into this delicious drink.
It is about generally the alcohol percentage of wine,
Around 10 to 12 percent of it can be made stronger or weaker or less alcohol in it.
However,
Although it is alcohol,
To me it's a very different form of alcohol,
A very different class in its own,
If you will.
While other alcoholic drinks are made from one plant,
Right?
You have grapes for wine,
Hops for beer,
And so forth.
Wine,
Or I'm sorry,
Mead at its base is honey.
So it has a very different base quality,
Base energy,
Base sugar that is turned into the alcohol.
And of course honey is a powerful thing itself.
Many of you know it has a lot of health benefits.
It is the essence of flowers,
Harmonized and alchemized through a beautiful process.
The bees take that pollen through and turn into honey.
And then of course mead is that honey further fermented and turned into a delicious drink.
So it has a different base quality,
Different base energy or vibration to it than the other alcohols.
To me,
Mead,
When taken particularly with this sort of wisdom,
Understanding,
And intention,
Is actually very uplifting.
It can open the heart.
It opens up the magical energy channels,
Opens up the creativity and inspiration.
Throughout history,
It was known throughout Europe as the mead of inspiration,
The mead of poetry for many reasons.
But because it brings in divine inspiration,
It opens up the creativity channels.
It opens up the heart,
As I said,
And brings forth more inspiration from life itself.
Again,
It is the essence of flowers,
One of the most beautiful things in the natural world,
Transformed and alchemized into this beautiful drink.
So it inspires us,
Uplifts us.
It connects us to the joy and the wonders of life and nature.
So it is a beautiful drink.
It was used throughout ancient times for ceremony,
For ritual,
For initiation.
It was woven into many mythologies,
Particularly the Norse,
The Celtic.
There's even text of it in many other religions or cultures around the world.
Pretty much anywhere that had honey likely had some form of mead at some point.
There's archaeological evidence of it going back at least 9,
000 years,
Maybe even older than that.
Potentially even before wine and beer and other things were brewed,
We may have had mead.
Unfortunately,
Lots is lost to history,
So we may never know for sure.
But it's been around for a long time.
Now,
Somewhere in the Middle Ages,
It fell out of popularity.
Mostly people talk about it being lost because of economic reasons,
Being more expensive to produce honey versus grapes and hops and things like that.
However,
Certain areas still kept it going.
Certain monasteries even kept it going.
Many royalty kept it.
I do believe there was some suppression of it or it faded out as a lot of the ancient traditions,
Cultures,
Magical ritualistic practices of the folk traditions throughout Europe also faded out.
That mead kind of faded out with it is my belief from what I've been able to piece together.
Nonetheless,
It is on the rise again.
Hallelujah.
As I said,
I first discovered it about 20 years ago,
And it was very hard to find.
In the last,
I don't know,
10 or so years,
There's been a rise in people interested in mead and the making of mead.
So there are a lot of meaderies popping up all over the world now with people discovering ancient recipes and also creating new recipes and experimenting with it and mixing it with different fruits and different spices and different herbs and all sorts of delicious things for your delight.
Taste-wise,
There is a variety.
So even if you've tried one mead,
There are so many different styles of mead.
There's a long list of names I'm not going to recite right now of the different types.
But as I said,
They can be mixed with different fruits and spices,
As well as different types of yeast create different qualities.
And even the type of honey that is used creates different flavor profiles.
They can be made sweeter or drier.
So if you like something drier,
There are drier ones out there for you.
If you like it on the sweet side,
There's plenty of sweet ones as well.
Different meaderies have their own recipes and ways of making it.
So I do encourage you to explore.
Many of the meaderies have where you can get a flight and you can sample different meads.
Now for me,
This is a beautiful drink for,
As I said,
Creativity,
For inspiration.
I do use it occasionally for that.
It's a beautiful way to connect people in a heart-opening way.
In my mead ceremonies in person,
We gather around.
Everyone gets to explore and experience and taste different meads.
We talk about the mead,
The mythology of it,
The magic of it.
And then I take people on a fun meditative ceremonial journey experience for healing,
Upliftment,
And it helps really clear a lot of the funk out of our energetic system.
So it is a powerful tool for that.
Now it was used in history for medicine,
For alleviating many things.
There's not any current scientific evidence around that,
But I have had many people report to me,
Both friends and people that have gone through my experiences,
Some very positive,
Uplifting experiences on many different levels of mead helping clear things out of their system.
So it does have many ways to support individuals when used properly.
Explore at your own caution and,
You know,
Do what is right for you and trust your own insights about it.
But I do encourage people to check it out and see if it's something for you,
If you will.
Now mead is becoming more available,
More accessible.
There are people working with it in very magical ways.
And it's my quest to bring it out to more people to explore its possibilities.
I've had many people that no longer drink alcohol because it's,
You know,
It's generally toxic,
Most of it.
However,
People have given me the feedback that it's very clean.
It doesn't have the side effects that they notice from drinking other alcohol.
They feel uplifted by it.
They feel inspired.
Their body feels good after they've drank it.
So again,
It has a very different quality and properties to it.
So I do invite people to check it out if it's right for you and explore it and perhaps sample and taste a bit of it.
On the magical side,
It was connected,
Associated with the gods.
It was the drink of the gods,
Often associated with things of the goddess,
Right?
It's like the nectar of life,
The nectar of the flowers,
The nectar of the goddess.
It was often connected with the fae and the elves and the other magical realms.
To me,
It's a sort of a conduit,
A lubricant,
If you will,
Between here and the other realms that helps open up those connections within us,
Which is also that playfulness,
That open creative essence is required to connect into those beautiful things of life,
Like the fae and the elves and nature and things of the goddess.
So it is very deeply connected with those elements of life.
So that's all I'm going to share about for now.
If you want to learn more about mead,
Of course,
You can do your own research.
Stay tuned.
I'm going to be doing,
As I said,
An online mead summit here coming up in 2025.
So stay tuned for much more mead magic as I'm on this quest to revive and bring this drink out to the world so more people can enjoy this delicious elixir of life.
May the mead of life and the deliciousness of life flow through you,
My friends.
Thanks so much for tuning in.
