Good morning.
Today is Thursday,
November 19th,
2020.
Oh Lord,
Let my soul rise up to meet you as the day rises to meet the sun.
Glory to God,
The three in one,
Creator,
Redeemer,
And sustainer.
As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever.
Amen.
Come let us bow down and worship.
Let us kneel before the Lord,
Our maker.
Remind yourself that you're in God's presence.
Notice how God may be speaking to you today.
Let yourself dwell on a word or a phrase that jumps out at you and let your heart respond to God in prayer.
Please repeat these words.
Fill us with your spirit,
Lord.
Fill our hearts with songs of joy.
Ephesians 5 verses 18 through 20.
Do not get drunk on wine,
Which leads to debauchery.
Instead,
Be filled with the Spirit,
Speaking to one another with psalms,
Hymns,
And songs from the Spirit.
Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
Always giving thanks to God for everything.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please repeat these words.
Fill us with your spirit,
Lord.
Fill our hearts with songs of joy.
Let us pray for each other.
Loving and healing God,
We turn to you in prayer,
Confident that you are with us and with all people in every moment.
We stand before you as people of hope,
Trusting in your care and protection.
May your faithful love support us and soothe the anxiety of our hearts.
Generous God,
Fill us with compassion and concern for others,
Young and old,
That we may look after one another in these challenging days.
Bring healing to those who are sick and be with their families.
May those who have died rest in your eternal embrace.
Comfort their family and friends.
Strengthen and protect all medical professionals caring for the sick and all who work in our medical facilities.
Give wisdom to leaders in healthcare and governance,
That they may make the right decisions for the well-being of all people.
We pray in gratitude for those in our world who will continue to work in the days ahead in so many fields of life for the sake of all.
Bless them and keep them safe.
Oh God of creation and life,
We place ourselves in your protection.
May the mantle of your peace enfold us this day and tomorrow.
In the name of Jesus who taught us to pray,
Our Father which art in heaven,
Eternal God,
Earth-maker,
Pain-bearer,
Life-giver,
Source of all that is and all that shall be,
Not only Father but Mother of us all.
May the hallowing of your name echo through the universe.
May the way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world.
May your heavenly will be done by all created beings.
May your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth.
With the bread we need for today,
Feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another,
Forgive us.
In times of temptation and test,
Strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure,
Spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil,
Free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
Now and forever.
Amen.
Thank you,
Lord,
For the many ways you watch over and protect us in the course of the day.
As you shelter us,
Show us also how to provide physical and spiritual shelter for those we encounter today.
Amen.
And now my friends,
May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ go with you wherever he may send you today.
May he guide you through the wilderness,
Protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
Go in peace.
