Welcome to wisdom Wednesday.
Good morning.
I have a little story to tell today.
So last Friday,
My girlfriend came over and she went into my refrigerator to get something to drink.
And she opened it and I'm like,
What is that smell?
She's like,
Girl,
It's coming from your refrigerator.
I'm like,
Oh,
Geez,
What in the world?
I had just been to the store and bought all new fresh produce and what's going on?
So I'm like,
Well,
I'll clean it up tomorrow.
It was Friday night.
So Saturday comes,
I take my refrigerator apart,
The entire thing top to bottom,
Everything out every single thing out,
Including the drawers.
And I wipe that thing down,
Sanitize it,
Clean it,
Look at all the labels,
Throw anything away that's old.
There was a few onions that maybe smelled so I threw them away,
Put everything in sealed bags.
It smelled fantastic.
Monday morning,
I opened the fridge early in the morning to get my cream for my coffee.
And there's the smell.
It's back.
Seriously?
Oh my God,
I just spent all this time cleaning up my refrigerator and it's smelling again.
What in the world?
What is happening?
So I said,
All right,
Process of elimination.
So I've taken a few things out yesterday morning.
And I took a few things more out yesterday afternoon.
It's still stinking.
I put a huge plate of baking soda in there to try to eliminate the smell.
But it's still stinking.
This morning,
I took entire drawers I took anything fresh out.
So I'll find out I guess later today if it's still smelling.
Where am I going with this stinky refrigerator?
Right?
You're like,
What is happening?
When we are making a shift in our life,
There are many things that we can change.
Many,
Many things.
So here's I made this list this morning.
So how often do you change your hairstyle?
Maybe you just want to change it up,
Feel fresh,
Do something new.
How often do you try something new to eat?
Maybe not for my refrigerator right now.
But how often do you meet a new friend?
Maybe you click instantly,
Or you don't.
And you know,
You know what,
That's,
That's not my person.
Maybe how often do you change your job or your position within the company you're working?
Maybe you take up a new hobby,
Or you go back to an old hobby that has brought you joy.
Maybe you found this new book that is just all you cannot put it down you or you cannot wait to get back to it because it's so exciting.
Maybe there's a new movie you've seen recently or a show you've binge watched.
Is your routine stagnant?
These are things if we're not constantly changing our routine,
Some people like to keep everything exactly the same and make zero changes whatsoever.
And that works for them.
But some of us like a lot of change.
But are we just changing the surface level things?
Or are we just doing it to cover up something,
Maybe to quiet our anxiety?
Have you ever thought those looping thoughts are going through your head?
Because you're not making any significant shift.
If you make a little shift and do something different for yourself,
And for your thoughts,
Maybe they will become more quiet.
Maybe it's not someone else's fault.
Maybe it's your fault.
Maybe you are the one that you need to make the change so that those looping thoughts will pause,
Quiet down,
And hopefully go away for good.
If you're not making the change.
So think about it,
Maybe not the refrigerator,
That's kind of a big example.
Think about it as the salad dressing.
So for instance,
I made the salad dressing this weekend,
I make all my homemade all my own homemade dressings.
And I noticed this morning when I was looking and being frustrated with my refrigerator because it still has a stink.
I saw the salad dressing I made on Sunday for my cookbook club,
Which is fantastic,
By the way.
It's so good.
I've already made another batch.
But it's separated.
It is separated in the jar that I made it in.
And I'm thinking,
You know what,
I would not take that salad dressing out and put it on my salad today.
I would shake it up.
I would make it change.
I would do it different.
I would shake it to where it needs to be.
Maybe that's what you need to do in your life.
Maybe you need to shake something up because you're just pouring things on in layers and you're not seeing the whole picture.
You're not getting the whole experience.
You're not feeling everything you need to feel because you're looking outside at all the noise instead of looking inside and shaking yourself up to see how amazing you can be.
So just for today,
Think of one thing maybe you can shake up.
Maybe one thing you can remove that might be stinking up your refrigerator and make a shift towards something positive and maybe possibly remove some of those negative thoughts.
