Here's a really powerful exercise,
A little experience that I invite you to try with a partner or a spouse.
A good friend.
We often,
When we talk to one another,
Our minds are a little bit somewhere else.
We're thinking about what we want to say,
Or we're thinking about the next thing ahead.
And we don't often fully listen and give people the power of our presence.
So in this.
Little experiment of sorts.
The idea is that each person gets a few minutes to just speak completely uninterrupted and that the other person is just there to completely listen and be present.
I tried this with my husband and it's really interesting,
You know,
Just setting a timer for like five minutes and,
Okay,
Go.
You say anything that you want to share and I'm just going to listen and then.
.
.
Kind of reverse.
And it's really,
Really powerful to have somebody else be fully present to you that they're just listening and you're able to really share,
Express whatever is on your mind and to do the same,
To reciprocate for somebody else.
That kind of power of presence in communication.
Is something that when we truly feel it and experience it,
It can be transformative.
