This story is all about Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that they celebrate in the USA.
It's a day where family and people come together.
A day where people focus on what they're grateful for,
What they're thankful for in their lives.
It's a celebration of everything we have.
I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that but for this story we'll just say it's a celebration,
A Thanksgiving,
A day to be grateful.
The cats had invited some of their close friends over.
Now as you know the cats are friends with all sorts of people and all sorts of animals.
The doorbell rang and rang and rang and rang until eventually all of the cats guests were sat around the dinner table.
They were going to have a feast,
An absolute feast.
There was all sorts of different roasted vegetables,
Mashed potatoes,
Green beans and gravy.
There was all sorts of stuff on the table.
They started by deciding to play a game.
Cherry said,
I know what,
Since it's a special day and we're all here together celebrating,
Celebrating how much we love each other and celebrating how grateful we are to have everyone in our lives right now,
How about we go around the table and each one of us says something that we're grateful for,
Like me.
For example,
I am so so so very very very grateful for every single one of my friends and I have so many friends.
I'm so lucky that I have so many friends,
Absolutely hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of friends and you know what I wish that they all could be here today but not everybody could be here today but I'm really grateful for everyone that could be here today to celebrate this special day with us because we love you all,
We do,
We love you to pieces,
We love you to bits and pieces,
We love you so much and we're so glad that you're here.
Like that,

Heidi said,
Yes that's a really good example,
Cherry.
I am grateful for the fact that we are able to come together and celebrate and today in particularly we're able to have this wonderful feast.
Sally,
Sally was a turkey,
She said oh yes me too,
Me too,
You know what I'm really grateful for?
I'm grateful that I'm not actually on the table,
I'm grateful that I'm actually sitting at the table and I'm not on the table.
They said,
Hmm me,
Me don't understand what you mean,
Erm what do you mean Sally?
Sally said,
Well you know Thanksgiving everybody everybody cooks a turkey,
That's how they celebrate,
They celebrate with a turkey and you know it's not very nice for me because I'm a turkey.
Cherry said,
OMG,
OMG Sally,
Yeah I never really thought about it like that,
Well thank goodness that you're not on our table.
Sally said,
Hmm yeah me too.
Lucy,
Lucy was a pig,
She said,
Well you know in some some places and some countries and and and all of that then I'd be on the table too Sally because you know lots of people like to eat pigs,
I'm grateful that I'm not on that table too.
Heidi said,
Well as a matter of fact if you think about it all of us,
Every single one of us,
Sally the turkey,
Lucy the pig,
David the cow,
Henry the lamb and Tussles the rat and us cats could actually be on that dinner table.
Cherry said,
No,
No,
No way,
You're telling me that people like to eat David,
David's such a sweet cow.
Thanks Cherry said David,
Yeah you are David,
You're such a sweet cow,
How on earth would anybody want to eat you and Henry,
Henry's so fluffy and cute.
Thanks Cherry said Henry,
Yeah you're welcome Henry because you know,
Look at his little pink nose and his fluffy fluffy curls and his little feet,
Oh Henry,
Why do,
Why do,
I can't believe that someone would eat Henry just because he's a lamb.
Oh yeah they do don't they,
They do eat lamb,
You're right,
They have like lamb chops and things.
Henry shuddered at the table,
Can we change the subject said Henry,
And what,
Wait,
Wait,
No way,
Does anybody eat Tussles?
Cherry was talking about the rat,
Yes they do,
Yes they do said Tussles,
They eat us all the time in certain countries,
You know,
Well if you think about it there is normally a lot of us running all over the place and if you're hungry I would imagine they're not very choosy and they just eat you.
Cherry went OMG,
No way,
I don't believe it,
I don't believe that they would eat Tussles and anyway,
Heidi what you talking about,
People don't eat cats.
Heidi said well actually Cherry in some cultures,
In some countries they eat cats just like they eat cows and pigs and anything else,
Chickens,
They eat cats too.
They said oh me,
Me thinks I'm kind of faint,
I don't think I like this conversation,
It's far too real,
I don't like it,
I don't really like thinking about all my friends being possibly on the dinner table.
Sally the turkey said yeah especially me,
Especially today,
You know,
Thanksgiving turkey.
Cherry said hmm right listen I know what,
I know what we'll do,
Let's do something completely different,
Let's change the subject and do something completely,
Completely,
Completely different.
Let's not talk about dinner because you know luckily there's no animals on our table today and we don't have to feel sorry for anybody because we're just eating vegetables which is very nice and it tastes very nice.
Shall we have a round of applause for all the vegetables?
Everybody at the table clapped.

We're very grateful for you vegetables for making our Thanksgiving dinner absolutely delicious today.
Right now this is my idea,
I think we should all go around the table and be thankful for something on our bodies.
Like me for example,
I am very thankful,
Very,
Very,
Very grateful for my whiskers because if I didn't have my whiskers when it were dark I'd bump into walls and I wouldn't really like bumping into walls because if I bumped into walls all the time I'd probably get a really bad black eyes or I'd bang my nose or I'd do something else that wasn't very nice so I'm thankful for my whiskers.
What are you thankful for?
Me,
Me thankful for my ears.
Me thankful for my ears because I get to hear all of my friends talking and I also get to keep my tiara on because my ears keep it in place so yeah I'm thankful for my ears.
They said Sally what are you thankful for?
Sally the turkey said well I'm thankful for all of my body because all of my body is still alive.
Cherry said change the subject Sally.
Sally went oh yeah sorry,
Ooh yeah,
Ow,
I'm thankful for my beak,
I'm thankful for my beak because my beak picks up grains and seeds and worms and things from the ground for me and it keeps me all caught hot all day,
Full and happy.
Lucy the pig said she was grateful for her nose because her nose could smell everything and she really liked smelling everything being a pig and all she really liked all the different smells.
David the cow when it came to his turn said he was grateful for his tail because he liked to swish it around a lot and it got rid of flies when they landed on his back so he was very grateful for his tail.
Henry the lamb was very grateful for his fur because it kept him warm when it was cold on the fields on the mountain sides.
And then Tussles the rat happened to be very very grateful for his long tail because his long tail made sure that he didn't get caught in anything it was like a long feeler an extension of his arm or something like that and it felt everything when he ran around and he also could wrap it around things.
You like that too.
Heidi said I am very grateful for my teeth because my teeth allow me to chew my food and if I couldn't chew my food it would be very difficult to eat it think about it.
The whole table thought about it.
Cheri said yeah you're right there yeah you're right that's a good one Heidi yeah I think we should all be grateful for our teeth if we have teeth that is.
Yeah yeah that's a really good one.
Anyway now that we know that we're all really really grateful and we all know that we love each other and we all know that we're not on the dining table we're actually just sat at the dining table as friends eating our dinner together which is very very nice right.
Once again everybody clapped.
Round of applause the fact that we're not on the table.
Yes yes now erm okay what else should we do how about we just talk how about we just talk to each other and catch up and find out what we've all been up to and what we've all been doing because we're all so different and we've all got different lives and we're all into different things but at the same time it's amazing that we're all friends don't you think.
Each one of us we're friends we can kind of accept each other's differences and we love each other anyway and you know we're all friends so I think that's the bestest thing to be grateful for today to be grateful for the fact that each one of us is so so so so so different.
Yeah at the same time we're all really like you know I don't know like the same but we're not but we are but we're not we're kind of like the same as in we all breathe we all eat we all like to be hugged we all like to snuggle erm we all like food we all like er oh we all go to the toilet.
We all do that don't we yeah so we're really if you think about it we all have a lot in common even though we're very very very different anyway let's just chat.
All of the animals sat around the table for the longest time they ate they had fizzy apple juice to celebrate they drank their apple juice and ate their vegetables and talked and talked and talked and talked and talked until it got very very dark and then they kept talking and talking and talking and laughing and talking and drinking and eating till the time came.
Where at the end of the day no one could get up on the table they were so full and so content and sleepy and happy and tired all at the same time that they decided to all just climb upon that table snuggle down together.
Wrap the table cloth over them and around them and all go to sleep.
Thanksgiving dinner with all of them cuggling and sleeping and snuggling down together.
The turkey fell asleep Lucy the pig fell asleep David the cow fell asleep.
Harry the lamb fell asleep.
Tussles the rat fell asleep.
The cats fell asleep.
Everybody was sleeping happy content full tummies full hearts and they were all very very grateful.
They were all so thankful that they had each other.
