Hail and welcome to Mortar and Pestle Monthly!
Join me as we take a look at creating magic for each month by bringing goodness of the goddess from the garden to your cauldron.
During this workshop,
We will explore herbs for making a magical oil for the Sabbath of Imbolc.
Winter is burning and seasons are turning.
New life is coming back to us in February as we celebrate the Sabbath of Imbolc and the goddess Brigid.
Brigid is celebrated as the goddess of the hearth,
So it's traditional for many Wiccans and Pagans to cleanse the home and hearth,
Both physically and energetically at this time.
So for this workshop,
We will create a magical oil for Imbolc and energetic cleansing.
Our herbs for this working will be bay,
Cinnamon,
Mugwort,
And rosemary,
All in essential oil form.
You will also need a carrier oil,
Such as grapeseed oil,
As it is generally unsafe to apply essential oils directly to the skin without this type of dilution.
As a general rule,
Use approximately two drops of essential oil to 10 milliliters,
Or 0.
33 ounces of carrier oil,
And you will need a glass jar or bottle,
With a dark color being preferable so as to protect the oils from UV light.
Bay is for strength,
And bay and mugwort are both known to promote psychic abilities and protection.
Cinnamon is for abundance and spirituality,
And rosemary is for purification and sending away negative energies.
If you wish,
You may also include dried herbs that correspond to the essential oils.
This is my personal recipe,
So feel free to adapt it as you like and make it yours.
The most important ingredient is your intention.
Begin with a clean glass jar,
Bottle,
Or other container of your choice.
Using incense or a smoking bundle of sage,
Invert the container over the plume to energetically cleanse it.
Gather your essential oils together,
And,
Holding your hands above them,
Charge them with your intentions.
You might choose to say something like this.
Here do I call upon the energies of these gifts of nature to craft an oil blend to amplify cleansing,
Spirituality,
And purification at the season of Imbolg.
May this oil grant these blessings to my home and hearth,
And to all who use it.
So mote it be.
Now begin to blend your essential oils into your carrier oil,
Mindfully and with love in your heart.
Once you have everything blended to your liking,
Your oil is ready for use in anointing yourself,
Through altar tools,
Dressing a candle,
Or using a diffuser designed for oils.
May you be filled with magic,
And may blessings be abundant in your home as we celebrate Brigid and look forward to the promise of spring with peace and love.
Blessed Be.
