If you only brushed your teeth.
Once in your entire life.
What do you think would happen?
It's a ridiculous thought,
Right?
But let's face it,
You'd never expect to have them stay clean forever just after one brushing.
Yet so many of us expect to think one positive thought or attend one mindset workshop and hey presto!
We have a perfectly clean happy mind for the rest of our lives.
The thing is.
.
.
That your brain is naturally wired for negativity.
Oh yes it is.
And contrary to what you might believe.
Its only job is to keep you safe.
Not to make you happy,
Rich or successful.
And to your clever or perhaps not so clever brain That means familiarity and predictability.
Because if it had its way,
It would much rather you stay in a predictable,
Unhappy pattern than take a risk on something that it doesn't know,
Something unfamiliar.
And what you also have to remember is that if someone else said the things to you that you say to yourself in your own head Well,
You'd call that emotional abuse and you'd probably walk away and never speak to them again.
But because it comes from your own mind,
Well,
You tolerate it.
You accept it.
And then,
Well,
You actually start to believe it.
But here's the thing.
Those thoughts are not the truth.
They're just old dusty programs running in the background of your subconscious.
And that is why controlling negative thoughts is just like Brushing your teeth!
It's not a job that you do once and then,
Well,
Forget about.
It's daily maintenance that you have to do consistently to get positive results.
You see,
The thing is,
You're not trying to stop negative thoughts from ever making an appearance.
You're simply getting better at catching them and clearing them out before they hijack your entire day.
So,
The next time that a dark thought pops up,
Don't beat yourself up over it.
Just see it as a bit of mental plaque that needs a.
.
.
A quick brushing.
So my advice to you is,
Well,
Allow yourself to have an imperfect human brain.
Just keep doing the daily maintenance and then watch how your life begins to shift.
