So the full moon traditionally,
Oh and by the way I have another talk on new moons,
So I suggest listening to both so that you get a full understanding.
So the full moon is a time of the moon being huge in the sky and a lot of witches will say that that's the most important time for us to do anything and traditionally there are 13 moons and they're called the espats and covens and witches would celebrate them as as much as they would celebrate the sabbats which are like this that's the solar calendar,
The espats are the lunar calendar.
So there's a long history of witches and healers and folk magicians and ancestors doing things under the full moon,
Feeling the power,
Right?
We have terms like lunacy,
We have werewolves,
We have this idea that the moon brings power,
Brings energy to us and it does.
A lot of people have a hard time sleeping around the moon that's full,
Some people have really vivid dreams when there's a full moon,
It feels like we're supposed to be doing more and if you think back to it I'm sure our ancestors used the full moon light to do more,
Right?
That was a time where you could actually be out at night for longer hunting,
Gathering,
Building,
Making community,
Whatever.
So the full moon energy has long been revered and seen as powerful and there are different if you follow astrology each one of the full moons is going to be under a different sign and some people take that information into account when doing their works of magic or ritual or ceremony.
So like a full moon in Leo is going to be big,
It's going to be bold,
It's going to be creative,
It's going to be artistic,
It's going to be beautiful and it's going to have a very different vibe from a Virgo.
Virgo is going to be cleansing and organizing and there's going to be this sense of digestion and you know very different,
Very different energy.
So that's something that you can always look up and find more information on.
I also want to take note that eclipse energy is radically different than a regular full moon so also keep that into account as well.
So full moons are a time to do really any kind of magic.
They are your most powerful lunar ally time,
Right?
So if you love the moon,
You maybe work with a moon goddess or you're working on healing your divine feminine regardless of gender,
You may really feel like connected to the full moon and you really want to celebrate and like I said it's a time to do any magic.
A lot of people see it as a powerful time,
They see it as a big release time.
So let's say you use the new moon as a time to manifest.
When the full moon comes around you release those manifestations because you have this whole lunation cycle to focus on them and now you release and you show that you trust,
Right?
So that's like something a lot of people do.
You'll see people make moon water and so what that is is just a vessel of water that you put under the light of the full moon and the idea is that the full moon energy charges the water and there has been,
I'm not going to be able to find it or quote it,
But there's been some scientific evidence that the moon's energy and light does affect water.
We see it with the ocean's ebb and flow and the tide and so the idea is that you capture that energy in a glass or a jar and you use it for different things.
In my private community,
Our coven,
We have a whole post about how people use it but people will often give it to their plants,
They will use it to cleanse,
They'll use it to bless,
They'll use it like how someone might use holy water.
It's really kind of limited to your imagination.
So that's very common.
You'll see people put crystals and ritual objects under the moon to be charged.
That's also personal.
If you would like to do that,
You could do that.
It feels good.
Sometimes crystals will look a little sad,
A little dusty.
I personally put a lot of mine in the sunshine but crystals,
Specifically like moonstone and selenite,
They're connected to the moon so they especially really enjoy that,
Right?
There's times of doing dream work and lucid dreaming.
The best time to do that is during the full moon because a lot of us have more vivid dreams anyway so there's that times.
The full moon is always a great time to do divination.
I never miss a tarot reading during a full moon because I have more energy,
I'm often more empowered,
And I feel clarity.
Like the moon reaches the brightness and I'm like,
Ah,
This all makes sense,
Right?
And I often will reflect on that moon cycle like from the new moon to the full moon.
I think full moon is a great time for blessing of things so I use the new moon as a cleansing time so then I'm going to use the full moon to bless things,
Right?
To anoint with certain oils or waters or things like that.
It's a great time for ritual baths and bathing and ritual showers because it's all connected,
Right?
The ebb and the flow and the ocean and all of that.
It's a great time for drawing energy into yourself,
For drawing down the moon,
For inviting the moon's energy to fill you for a purpose,
Right?
For a work of magic.
It's really limitless to be honest with you.
Like you can do any type of magic under the full moon,
Like any.
And with witches we see that the three days before the full moon and three days after the full moon are a window of that power because life is busy.
A lot of us have jobs and we live in the mundane world so we can't always do things on the exact full moon so a lot of people will do three days sometime before sometime after and that's totally okay and it's also okay to do things in the day.
The moon is there,
We just don't see her so if you cannot stay up at night for whatever reason or people in your house,
You have kids,
Whatever,
Just do whatever magic you want to do when the full moon is full,
Night or day,
It doesn't matter.
That's okay as well.
So the full moon really I think is great time to meditate too because of the more vivid dreams.
So guided meditations where you're really like trying to see something or connect with something is such a good time to do that.
I really feel like I said it's limitless,
Like whatever you want to do.
And remember witchcraft is playful,
Like it's meant to be fun.
