Chapter 58 We were in my garden,

Resting after the events of the previous night,

Unable to sleep and enjoying the scent of roses and honeysuckle around us.

Following the discovery of the yobs,

As the maidens insisted on calling them,

We had retired to my cottage,

Yobs and all,

Much to Morwenna's disgust,

For she had been intent on marching them,

Bound and gagged,

To the nearest police station.

But to my surprise Art intervened.

We all make mistakes,

He told her,

And these here yobs,

As you call them,

Just need something worthwhile to do.

I have a feeling they're not so bad as they seem.

Misguided,

Perhaps,

But not all bad.

Leave them with us for a bit,

And you'll see a difference.

Morwenna said no more,

But shot them dirty looks,

Until I began to wonder if the yobs ended up more afraid of the maidens than they were of the knights,

For I began to see a softer and more understanding side to Art than I ever would have imagined.

They're going to be alright,

He assured me later.

Bored,

That's all they are.

They're coming to help me and the lads do a few jobs for you.

Give them something worthwhile to talk about.

And they'll replace what they stole from you and they want to apologise,

He added,

Turning to Morwenna,

Tamsin and Demelza.

Well,

Began Tamsin,

If you really think so.

Lance,

Tristy,

Purse,

Come here,

Called out.

The lads appeared looking apprehensive.

Sorry we took your stuff,

Muttered Lance.

Yeah,

And thanks for not calling the police,

Added Purse.

Tristy nodded.

We'd have been in dead trouble.

We'll make it up to you.

Demelza grinned,

Looking amused.

Interesting names you have,

She commented.

Lance blushed.

Yeah,

We're really Lancelot,

Percival and Tristram.

We're brothers.

Our parents are great fans of the Arthurian legends.

Morwenna snorted with laughter.

Well,

I think you might just have found the real thing,

Now you've met King Arthur here.

You weren't very chivalrous,

Scolded Tamsin,

So you'd better change your ways if you know what's good for you.

But we're part of the Green Knights now,

Said Lance.

For a bit anyway,

Aren't we?

He asked,

Glancing at Art.

Art grinned and clapped him on the shoulder.

Course you are,

He replied.

He looked at me and winked.

Give me a year and a day,

He said,

And everything will be different.
