Hello,
My name is Justine and tonight I'm going to help you to slow down so that you can be ready to fall off to sleep soon.
I wonder if you are already lying in your bed?
Are you ready to get snuggly under your sheets and doona?
I wonder if you already have some of your favourite teddies and toys around you?
Are you ready to lie down and listen now?
If you are lying down,
Could you try lying flat on your back with your arms straight by your sides and make your legs long and straight?
If you are lying flat with your body straight,
Can you make your hands go flat on the bed and give your fingers just a very small gentle wiggle?
Such a small wiggle that you don't make any sounds.
Ok,
You can stop the wiggles and just let your fingers relax.
Now,
Could you try to slowly point your toes away from you,
Really quietly.
Again,
Not making any sounds.
Good,
Now let your toes relax.
Could you try quietly squeezing your hands together into fists?
And at the same time,
Can you curl over your toes and then hold everything really tight?
And hold your hands and your feet tight for a count of three.
One,
Two,
Three.
And let go now.
And let them all relax.
Great.
What about your face?
Could you try quietly scrunching up your face?
Squeeze all the muscles tight,
Making no sounds.
Make your lips tight,
Your eyes tight,
Squeezing everything and hold for one,
Two,
Three.
And then let everything go and your face can relax.
Good.
What about your whole body now?
Your face,
Your arms and your legs.
Quietly squeeze all of your body.
Squeeze every muscle you can and hold tightly for one,
Two,
Three.
And then let everything go soft.
Excellent.
Does your body feel a bit softer now?
Hopefully your body is ready to listen.
And as you know,
It's night time now.
The sun is going down and it's getting dark.
Or maybe it's already dark where you are.
At the same time that you are getting ready for sleep,
There is also a lot of animals getting ready for sleep.
And I wonder if you might like to listen along with me now as I tell you one by one about the animals that would be getting ready to sleep just like you are.
I'm going to start with some of the small animals,
The insects.
And some of these might be in your garden.
And one by one I am going to say the name of the animal and I'm going to say that they're going off to sleep.
So if you're ready,
Snuggle down a little further into your bed,
Getting comfy.
Closing your eyes if you are ready.
And all you need to do is listen quietly.
Okay,

All of the ants are going to sleep.
All of the ladybugs are going to sleep.

You're letting your body now feel heavy.
Let your head relax onto the pillow.
Drop to the sides.
Feel your shoulders dropping away from your ears.
And your fingers just flop.
Let your tummy go soft.
Softening.
Getting heavier.
Stretching it out.
