Welcome.
As you settle in for sleep tonight,
Allow your body to relax and your mind to slow down.
Find a comfortable position.
Let your shoulders release tension.
Allow your breathing to become slow and steady.
Tonight,
We will rest in the peace of God's Word.
His promises are steady.
His presence is near.
And as we meditate on scripture,
We allow His truth to quiet our hearts and prepare us for rest.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in.
And gently breathe out.
Again.
Slow breath in.
And release.
Let the stillness of this moment settle over you.
Allow your body to begin relaxing from head to toe.
Relax your forehead.
Release any tension around your eyes.
Let your jaw soften.
Allow your shoulders to drop.
Feel the weight of your body supported beneath you.
Your arms resting.
Your hands relaxed.
Your breathing slow and steady.
Now allow your legs to relax.
Your knees soft.
Your feet heavy and calm.
With every breath out,
Release the stress of the day.
With every breath in,
Receive God's peace.
Listen now to the Word of God.
Psalm 4 8 says,
I will both lie down and sleep in peace for you alone,
Oh Lord,
Make me dwell in safety.
Let these words settle into your heart.
You can rest tonight in peace because God watches over you.
You are not alone.
His presence surrounds you.
Again,
Hear these words.
I will both lie down and sleep in peace for you alone,
Oh Lord,
Make me dwell in safety.
Allow that promise to calm your mind.
God is your safety.
God is your protection.
God is your peace.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Release your worries into God's care.
Now we meditate on the beautiful words of Psalm 23.
The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
Imagine yourself resting beside calm waters.
A peaceful place.
A quiet place.
God gently leading you into rest.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His namesake.
God is guiding your life.
Even when you do not see the full path.
Even when life feels uncertain.
He is leading you.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil.
For you are with me.
God is with you tonight.
Right here in this moment.
His presence surrounds you.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil.
My cup overflows.
God provides for you.
God blesses you.
God cares deeply for you.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Let that promise rest in your heart.
God's goodness is following you.
God's mercy is with you.
And you belong to Him.
Now hear these powerful words from Psalm 91 verses 1 through 4.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
You are resting in God's shelter.
You are safe in His presence.
I will say to the Lord,
My refuge and my fortress,
My God,
In whom I trust.
God is your refuge.
God is your fortress.
God is your protector.
He will cover you with His feathers.
And under His wings,
You will find refuge.
Imagine resting under the shelter of God's wings.
Protected.
Covered.
Safe.
His faithfulness is a shield and a buckler.
God's faithfulness surrounds you.
You do not need to fear the night.
You do not need to fear tomorrow.
God is watching over you.
Allow your breathing to become slow and gentle.
Feel the peace of God's presence.
Let us close in prayer.
Lord,
Thank you for your peace.
Thank you for your protection.
Thank you that we can lie down and sleep in safety because you watch over us.
Calm every anxious thought.
Quiet every worry.
Fill this space with your presence.
May your word guard our hearts tonight.
And may we rest deeply in your peace.
In Jesus name.
Amen.
Now allow yourself to simply rest.
Your body relaxed.
Your breathing slow.
Your mind at peace.
You are safe in God's presence.
Sleep in His peace tonight.
