During a talk about life,
The master shared a story about his encounter with a pilot from World War II who used to transport labourers from China to Burma for jungle road work.
The flights were long and dull,
So the labourers used to gamble to pass the time.
However,
They didn't have any money,
So they gambled with their lives.
The loser of the game was forced to jump out of the plane without a parachute.
One of the disciples was horrified to hear this and exclaimed,
How dreadful!
The master acknowledged the disciple's concern,
But he also added that it added an element of thrill to the game.
Later that day,
The master reflected on the incident and said,
You can never experience life so intensely as when you take risks with your existence.
