Hope: An Advent Prayer

An advent prayer for hope.

Hope.

For a future that feels so far off.

The chasm between what is and what should be.

The canyon of my broken,

Battered heart.

How long,

Oh God?

How long?

But,

God.

I lift my eyes to the God who speaks and speaks and keeps on speaking.

Those who have ears to hear,

Let them hear the music of the divine voice calling into our wilderness.

Let there be light.

Let there be life.

Let there be laughter.

Hope.

Peace.

Joy.

Love.

But for now,

Hope.

That the light will come.

Oh,

Come,
