The story of the frog,
The bat,
And the spider.
Frog lived in a time,
Long ago,
When there were lots of insects.
Frog had to hardly do anything but to receive a smorgasbord of unlimited diversity and need.
Number of insects for it to eat.
Didn't have to lift a finger but they just came to them.
It was a very very good time for frog.
But frog did have one pretty big problem,
Significant problem.
You see,
The fish were really upset that frog left them to live on land.
The fish couldn't understand what it was that was so great about being on land.
And they were jealous of frog.
And so the fish would all gather together to tease frog.
And while frog would be sitting by the water,
They would say,
Hey frog,
Look at us,
Life is so much better in the water,
We're all partying and having a good time,
Yay.
And so frog would jump into the water but sure enough,
The fish would all swim away and laugh.
They never really wanted to party or play with frog.
They just wanted to get back at frog for leaving them in the water.
And this really hurt frog because it was pretty lonely for frog.
And so frog decided that to get back at the fish,
It would just ignore them as if it was sitting somewhere on the moon.
And to this day,
No matter what the fish or anything tries to do or say to frog,
It just ignores them.
And sure enough,
The fish stopped teasing frog.
But it wasn't so easy for frog's other friend,
The bat.
Bat and frog both liked to eat insects,
So they had a lot in common and were good friends.
But bat had a really significant problem.
You see,
Bat considered itself a bird,
But it wasn't as elegant and as beautiful with all the colors and stuff as all the other birds.
And when bat flew,
Its patterns were really random and unpredictable,
Unlike the birds that were smooth and graceful and flew in one direction constantly.
But worst of all,
Bat didn't have a very nice song to sing.
And all the other birds had such beautiful songs.
This bothered bat so much to the point that bat felt that whenever bat would hear any of the other birds singing the song,
They were making fun of bat.
Even though the birds were just singing their songs and they weren't thinking about bat,
It just made bat feel bad that they could do things that bat couldn't.
And bat felt that all the other birds were mocking it and making fun of it and laughing at it because it was so different.
And so,
As a result,
Bat never showed its face during the day.
Bat would only come out to eat at night when all the other birds were asleep and couldn't see it and weren't singing.
But this became a problem because there weren't that many insects available at night and bat was starving to death.
Dog had another friend whose name was spider.
Now spider lived in this time of many insects and prospered.
Spider would have webs that would extend high into the air and go for yards in either direction and catch a multitude of insects.
And no matter how many insects spider caught,
It always seemed that there were more.
But of all the three animals that ate it,
The insects hated spider the most.
Sometimes spider might be considered an insect,
But the insects never wanted to be associated with spider.
Ever.
Because you see,
The insects are all very cooperative.
They get along with one another.
They work together.
They love what they're doing.
But spider,
Whenever spider would catch one of them,
Whether it was a grandmom or granddad or child or parent,
They would beg spider to let them free.
But spider would just laugh and never let them go.
And so of all the animals that ate insects,
The insects hated spider the most because it didn't have that compassion that the insects have for each other.
Well,
As it turned out,
Spider heard about the predicament of bat.
And upon hearing what was happening to bat that it was starving to death for lack of insects,
Spider felt for the first time a sense of compassion.
And spider decided from that time on it would only do its work at night,
Just like the bat,
And that it would fashion itself in such a way that bat would have insects to eat as well.
And in this way,
Spider ensured that the bat would survive and became closer to an insect because it had that compassion.
And that is the story of the frog,
The spider,
And the bat.
