Awaken creative to this day 15 of our 40 day journey exploring a more awakened,
More creative life.
Yesterday,
Day 14,
I spoke of the dance,
The give and the get,
Push and the pull,
Of creativity,
Of living life authentically,
Not pushing one's way through,
And breaking it down and giving you a few practices to help better identify that push and that pull that are the authentic prompts for yourself,
Not the push in stubborn earnestness or the pull,
Let it come.
Today,
The first half of the equation,
First half of the dance,
Receptivity.
As an artist,
I can be found sitting in the studio staring at a wall.
It's kind of a joke or a meme about artists,
Creatives,
That we sit still looking like we're doing nothing for the majority of the time,
But in truth what's going on is opening ourselves,
Being at the receiving end of a prompt,
Of an intuitive hit,
Of a divine inspiration.
Some might call it,
In days gone by,
A muses touch.
So that's where we are today,
In that space of receptivity,
Awaiting the muses brush against our shoulder.
The practice is extremely simple and the intention is to just let it be,
So that it's power,
This simple practice,
Does it's job.
It helps you open and be receptive to that hint that's coming your way.
It's a Qigong practice.
Begin standing.
We'll start in mountain pose,
A comfortable distance one from the other.
Arms at your side,
Palms facing forward.
Spine erect,
But not forced.
Head held high,
As if pulled by a string up to the heavens.
This should feel effortless,
And yet entirely conscious.
We're going to draw down the sky.
For what better visualization than that,
For imagining the muse coming to fill you with inspiration.
Drawing down the sky.
From this mountain pose,
Gently,
Rhythmically,
Sweep your arms wide out to each side,
Up to the sky,
And then scoop them together as if capturing clouds,
And draw it down into your skull,
Across your face,
Through your heart,
And place it there,
In your abdomen,
The core of your divine spark.
Gently put your arms back at your sides,
Palms facing forward,
And repeat that sweep of wings,
Palms facing up to the sky,
Capturing those clouds and drawing them down the center of your being.
Repeat this,
Completely conscious,
Entirely present,
And completely open to that divine pouring out of inspiration into you.
Awaken,
Creative,
To the receptivity of your divine inspiration today.
