The Heart of Night in some East Asian cultures is around 1 or 2 am. It's when most people are asleep. If you are awake by choice during the Heart of Night, you know how special the quality of silence or stillness is during this time. Though perhaps a paradox, I hope that these sounds of the shakuhachi express the quality of that particular silence. If on the other hand, you find yourself awake at 1 am and don't want to be, then this music might help you momentarily stop your whirling mind. a perfect pause for your unwanted wakefulness. Either way, relax and enjoy the stillness.
