Welcome,
Friends,
To this recorded session of Authoring Hope.
My name is Sarah Robinson.
I have been a meditation guide here on Insight Timer for many years,
But I'm also a published author of books of myth and magic.
This journey of meditation and writing is designed to help you organise your hopes,
Clarify your intentions,
And embrace the future with renewed energy.
I'll begin this session with a short and sweet meditation to allow us to arrive in this place,
Followed by some simple and inspiring writing prompts,
And then we'll end the practice with a meditation as well.
So take your time now to find a restful place,
And to gather any writing implements that you might wish to use during this journey.
You are welcome to enjoy this recorded session any time that you wish to maybe foster a sense of inner peace,
To seek a little empowerment,
Or to reconnect to your aspirations and dreams.
So wherever and whenever we are,
Let's take our time to arrive here now.
You can close the eyes if you like.
Find whatever comfortable place feels supportive and safe and nourishing for you.
Take some deep and easeful breaths.
Feel free to roll the shoulders or sigh out a few breaths,
Just to allow yourself to release and let go any busy thoughts or any weight that's settled up on your shoulders.
The writing we will do today is just for you.
Your own self-reflections and exploring and supporting your journey,
Your goals,
Yourself.
This can be a form of self-love.
This writing is not about the end product,
But about discovering the story inside of you.
And perhaps that helps you take steps to living your dreams,
Your ideas,
Your path.
Writing is,
And can be,
Simply about telling yourself the story first.
Before we take those steps on whatever journey lays ahead,
Let's just take our breaths.
The earth beneath us supporting us,
And the sky above us expanding in space.
And with no sense of rush,
Perhaps when you feel ready you will come to an easy seated position and take up your pen or pencil.
And perhaps without thinking too much about it,
We're going to select a word for the path ahead of us.
Whether that is a new month,
A new year,
A new adventure.
What word might you pick?
It might be a word like peace or nurture.
Or one of strength or stillness.
Gratitude,
Compassion.
Whatever word comes to mind,
Give yourself a moment to write it or doodle it or to draw it in coloured pens or surrounded by flowers.
It may be part of an intention or goal or simply be a word that comes to mind as something that may shine its light over our journey ahead.
And next we're going to use some sentences to complete as our writing prompts.
Here,
From our place of pause,
We will first look behind us.
We'll look back to see the path we have walked or the period of time we have journeyed through.
Now for you,
This could be the previous month,
It could be the previous week or year or a job that you are leaving.
Think about whatever it is that you are looking back on and maybe leaving behind as we stand here at this threshold point.
And as we look back on what has passed,
Whatever period of time that is,
We're going to complete two sentences.
Something I am proud of.
Something I am proud of.
Take your time to finish that sentence or any word or words that come to mind.
Something I am proud of.
And second,
Something I am grateful for.
So as you look back on the path you have walked so far,
Something I am proud of,
Something I am grateful for.
Now,
As we turn from our place of threshold,
From looking at the path behind us,
We now turn to look at the path before us.
There are four sentences we will complete when we think about looking forward.
This path before us.
Complete the sentence,
For this path before me,
I will draw nourishment from.
I will draw nourishment from.
Take your time to write as much or as little as you like.
If you are not sure yet,
Feel free simply to write down the prompt and you can always come back to this later.
The path ahead will be special for me because.
Will be special for me because.
For this path ahead,
I'd like to tell myself to.
I'd like to tell myself to.
And finally,
For this path ahead,
I will be brave and.
I will be brave and.
I'll read them through one more time.
For the path before me,
I will draw nourishment from.
The path will be special for me because.
For the path ahead,
I'd like to tell myself to.
And I will be brave and.
Take your time.
If you find yourself in writing flow,
Then you can pause this recording and keep writing for as long as you wish.
But to bring this journey for now to a close.
Once more,
We'll settle for a gentle guided meditation.
So you can close the eye.
And take all of this.
As we once more visualize ourselves upon a path.
We may take a moment to look behind us.
To see all we have accomplished and learned so far.
The great distance we have already journeyed.
You might see the path line with.
Friendships you have fostered.
People you care for.
Or the beauty of seasons you have journeyed through.
Great trees rising tall.
Filled with spring blossoms.
Summer fruits.
Or winter frosts.
And then before you upon your path.
You visualize a portal of some kind.
It might be a bridge over a sparkling stream.
It might be a new kind of path of shining stone.
It might be a beautiful archway of trees or leaves.
It might even be a doorway.
Give yourself a moment to see before you.
The path you wish to walk.
Again you might see beautiful trees or flowers.
Representing growth and new beginnings.
You might see some of the words you have written down.
And what they may mean to you.
And when you feel ready to do so.
Take your steps.
Journey over the bridge.
Through the portal.
And onto this brand new path.
Whenever you feel ready.
Take a stretch or a wiggle.
And gently open your eyes when you feel ready.
Welcome back from the journey dear friend.
I hope that you enjoyed this session of writing.
And visualizing and fostering hope today.
And I really look forward to journeying with you again soon.
Know that you can come back to this practice anytime you need to refocus.
To readjust your path.
And to seek your own stars to navigate by.
May your path be filled with love and hope.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Farewell for now.
