Stars,
By Sarah Teasdale Alone in the night sky,
On a dark hill with pines around me,
Spicy and still,
And a heaven full of stars over my head,
White and topaz and misty red.
Myriads with beating hearts of fire,
The eons cannot vex or tire.
Up the dome of heaven,
Like a great hill,
I watch them marching stately and still,
And I know that I am honored to be witness of so much majesty.
Take a deep breath in,
And at night,
Sometimes when you might feel alone,
Imagine stepping outside and looking up into the dark sky and seeing what the poem shares with you here,
That you are part of the cosmic body of light that moves through all the universe,
You,
This star shining in the night sky,
That you are never alone and are a woven part of all of creation.
And with each breath that you take,
You breathe in starlight and moonlight,
Filling your lungs full of life,
And as you exhale,
Breathing out this connection of starlight back up to the night sky.
Have a beautiful day.
Namaste.
