Peace that guards your heart.
And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4-7 Life has a way of coming at us in waves.
Some seasons are full of busyness,
Activity,
And energy.
Others are quiet,
Reflective,
Even lonely at times.
There are highs and lows,
Mountaintops and valleys,
Moments of clarity and stretches of uncertainty.
This duality of being human,
Of living in a world where joy and stress can exist on the same day,
Can feel overwhelming.
Sometimes what we crave more than anything else is peace.
Philippians 4-7 promises a peace that surpasses all understanding.
A peace not rooted in circumstances,
But in God's presence.
It isn't the kind of piece that depends on everything going right.
It's the kind that shows up in the middle of the mess,
When nothing makes sense,
When life feels heavy,
And still,
Somehow,
Your soul can find rest.
As we step into fall,
The slowing pace of the world around us invites us to do the same.
The air cools.
The leaves shift colors,
Then gently let go,
Making space for stillness.
Maybe your summer was hectic or perhaps your year has held more weight than you expected.
Friend,
This season can be a reminder that God's peace is available right here,
Right now.
It guards your heart.
It steadies your mind.
And it does not depend on what's happening around you.
It depends on His presence within you.
Today,
Let the falling leaves remind you to release anxiety,
Stress,
And striving.
Lay it down and make room for His peace to take its place.
What worries or burdens are you holding on to that you need to release in order to make room for God's peace to settle into your heart this season?
Laura,
Thank you for offering a calm that goes beyond my understanding.
When life feels overwhelming and my heart is unsettled.
Help me remember that your peace is not dependent on my circumstances.
But on your presence within me.
Teach me to let go of things I cannot control and to trust you with what weighs heavy on my heart.
As the seasons change,
May my soul slow down to and rest in your steady hands and receive the peace only you can give.
Amen.
