Through the Clouds,
Hidden Truths of Your Writing Process Day 2,
40 Days of Venus Retrograde for Writers Welcome to this series on how the energies of Venus Retrograde can affect and inform our creative journey.
We'll use this convenient and spiritually relevant 40-day cycle to explore how the intersection of science,
Archetypal symbolism,
Astronomy,
And astrology illuminate a path of exploration into our writer's soul.
This first week,
The science of Venus will guide our expedition.
Yesterday,
We discovered how the backward rotation of Venus in her orbit invites reflection.
Today,
We'll look at how to dissolve the fears of authentic expression.
Are you ready?
Have your journal?
Let's go!
Venus is fully covered in a layer of reflective clouds.
From our vantage point on Earth,
Venus appears to be the brightest planet in our sky.
But dense,
Thick,
Nearly impenetrable cloud cover reflects 75% of sunlight.
Whether we gaze skyward in the evening,
As Venus shines in inky darkness,
Or before sunrise,
When she's transitioned into a morning star,
We're not really seeing the depth of Venus' beauty.
We're seeing a surface-level reflection.
A sulfuric acid sky obscures Venus' true nature.
In a world that values products,
Profit,
And perfection,
Our creative soul feels downright unsafe at times.
We want to explore and share the truth,
Beauty,
And heartache of the human experience through our storytelling lens.
But authenticity,
A.
K.
A.
Our own true nature,
Is rarely rewarded.
Vulnerability is only valuable when it can be monetized,
Glamorized,
Or canonized.
So instead,
We cover our vision and voice to appease others.
Our deepest creative desires hide beneath the illusions we invent.
The superpower of the writer is telling stories.
And that's exactly what we do,
To the detriment of our creative soul.
We tell ourselves that we don't care,
We don't need to write,
We don't have time to write,
We don't know what to write.
We shine a good face forward,
While hiding behind a mask of self-created cruelty and shame,
Insisting that we're not a writer.
We buffer our true self beneath protective layers of indifference,
Anger,
Procrastination,
Or even abandonment,
All the while longing to be nothing more than our authentic self.
What part of your creativity do you hide that has been begging to shine?
My comments are a safe space.
I would love to hear,
And your creativity would love to share.
It told me so.
Journal Prompts for Dissolving the Fear of Authentic Expression I invite you to courageously journal into the depths of your truest creative desires,
To reveal what you're hiding from yourself with these five prompts.
Prompt number one.
What creative vision or idea have I been keeping just out of reach,
Afraid to fully claim as my own?
Prompt number two.
What fears or beliefs are holding me back from embracing my writer self?
Prompt number three.
Where in my creative life do I feel like I'm only showing the quote-unquote bright reflection rather than the full truth?
What would it look like to reveal more?
Prompt number four.
What is one part of my creative self that I've been suppressing because it feels too risky,
Too raw,
Or too different?
What happens when I give it a voice?
Prompt number five.
If my creativity had no limits,
No rules,
No deadlines,
No pressure,
What would I create?
How does this vision challenge the way I see myself as a writer?
As an inanimate celestial body,
Venus is at the mercy of the clouds shrouding her true self.
But as writers,
We can be brave,
Dig deep,
And go beneath our surface to be honest and vulnerable as we peel back carefully constructed layers to reveal the beauty and truths of our creative soul.
Move past the masks and invite your writer self to have a say in how you navigate this one precious,
Creative,
Expansive,
Magical human experience.
She might be the best friend you've been looking for.
