Welcome to this new moon meditation.

This meditation is best practiced at the time of the new moon to help you slow down and connect with the grounding energy of a dark moon night.

Come to a comfortable shape,

Either seated or laying down.

Whatever shape you choose,

Make sure your spine is long and you are fully supported by the ground.

Close down your eyes,

Stepping into darkness.

Begin with a big breath in through the nose.

Exhale,

Sigh it out of the mouth.

Big breath in through the nose.

Exhale,

Sigh it out.

Big breath in.

Exhale,

Sigh it out.

Breathing in and out through the nose now,

Inhale,

Fill your lungs.

Exhale,

Press all the air out through your nose.

Inhale,

Fill the lungs.

Exhale,

Empty it all the way out.

Inhale,

Fill.

Exhale,

Empty.

Continue breathing deeply,

Slowing down the breath.

Feeling each inhale,

Feeling each exhale.

Notice the darkness behind your closed eyelids.

Really see the darkness as if noticing it for the first time.

Do you see any shapes or shadows moving?

Maybe you see a total blackness,

Like the darkness of a new moon night.

Lean into that darkness,

A safe darkness,

One of potential and new beginnings.

As if you were sitting outside on a dark new moon night with no moonlight,

Allow that darkness to wash over you.

Beginning with the darkness you see behind your eyelids,

That darkness washes down your head,

Your face.

Jaw,

Throat and neck,

Shoulders,

Hands,

Fingers,

Chest,

Ribs,

Spine,

Lower back,

Pelvis,

Thighs,

Shins,

Ankles,

Toes.

Your entire body sinks into the heaviness of a quiet darkness,

Rooting down towards the earth.

Become aware of the weight of your body.

The new moon is the time to ground.

It is of the earth element.

Rich soil,

Winding roots,

The stability of trees,

The strength of mountains.

These are all of the new moon.

This is the time to find your footing on the earth,

To feel stable and secure.

Sink into your shape.

Notice each body part that is in contact with the earth.

Your feet,

Your legs,

Your buttocks.

If you're laying down,

Feel your spine press against the earth,

Your shoulders,

Arms,

Hands,

The back of your head.

Take a slow and deep breath in.

Become fully aware of one body part as it rests on the earth.

Exhale.

Soften the muscles around that space and sink into your support a little heavier.

Breathe in.

Notice another part of your body supported by the ground.

Exhale.

Soften and sink.

Breathe in.

Notice another area.

Exhale.

Soften and sink.

Keep breathing like this,

Breathing into each part of your body rooted deeply to the ground,

Exhaling to soften that space and grow heavier.

Feel the full weight of your body as it rests heavy on the earth.

Bring your awareness back to your breath.

Feel its steadfastness in and out.

Notice with your mind's eye the darkness within you,

As dark as a new moon night,

The darkness of potential,

The start of something new,

The moment before taking your first step forward into a new lunar cycle.

Notice what this darkness feels like.

Perhaps inspiring,

Optimistic,

Curious.

However the darkness of potential manifests for you,

Remember that darkness comes before light.

The darkness of a new moon is just the beginning,

A new space for you to explore,

New terrain to be discovered.

You are on the first step in your journey through the new lunar month.

Together we share one final breath in,

A final breath out.

Thank you and take good care.
