What does it mean to accept something you don’t like—something that hurts, something you wish had never happened, or something you desperately want to change? For much of my life, acceptance wasn’t where I went. Control was. Over time, I began to understand that underneath much of my need for control was a search for safety. In this video, I explore acceptance, control, and surrender through my own healing journey—including how control showed up through relationships, authority, and overthinking. Acceptance doesn’t mean what happened was right. It doesn’t mean approving of someone’s behavior or becoming passive. Sometimes acceptance simply means acknowledging: This is what’s here. This is what I’m feeling. When we stop trying to control what isn’t ours to control, we can return to what is: our own present experience. Perhaps acceptance isn’t giving up. Perhaps it’s a way of returning to ourselves. Disclaimer: Please note that the content is educational and is not a substitute for one to one professional care.
