Here I describe how it is and how it feels when we overcome the feeling of lacking the presence of a pet that we truly love. I show us the direction to take and I offer us the key to elevate ourselves from a deep state of sorrow.

Today,

Every day,

I love my true friend.

That four-legged beautiful being with wet nose and fuzzy fur.

Today and every tomorrow he is right here in my heart.

Sometimes words of lack want to come out but they don't.

Why?

Because they wouldn't be true.

How could I miss something that is always with me?

But what if I wanted to see him,

To cuddle him,

To look into his eyes and to sense his amazing character one more time,

Ten more times?

Would it mean that I miss him?

That he is missing in my life?

No,

It would mean that I have lived an experience that I absolutely loved and because I have memory,

I remember it.

That is all.

I don't miss him.

I love him.

But how come I don't miss something that I love and that I don't have anymore?

Well,

I couldn't possibly miss something that was never truly mine and I couldn't possibly miss something that never really went away.

We don't connect with inanimate things.

We connect with energies.

I didn't love him because he was a dog.

I loved him because he was him.

His energy,

His infinite happiness and enthusiasm,

His intelligence,

His resilience,

His tenderness and his patience when all he wanted was to play and to live life to the fullest.

My heart saw and recognized the extraordinary being that he was,

That he is and that is forever.

Not because life in this planet is endless but because life itself is and energy goes on in many ways,

In different ways.

But it goes and it stays.

So do I miss him?

No,

I love him.

Today,

Every day,

I love my true friend,

That four-legged beautiful being with wet nose and fuzzy fur that was never truly mine.

Today,

All day and every tomorrow,

I surpass any sorrow because he is right here with me whispering his love and his willingness to be.
