Good evening and welcome.
Tonight I will guide you gently off to sleep,
Beginning with a progressive muscle relaxation to release tension from your body and softening the breath to deepen your calm.
After that I will lead you into a soothing rainy night visualization that will settle into 8 hours of brain and gentle nature sounds for restorative sleep.
Finally,
At the end of the soundscape,
I will wake you gently with uplifting affirmations to help you get up feeling well rested,
Energized,
Confident and ready for a productive peaceful day.
Now get cozy,
Adjusting your pillows,
And when you're ready,
Softly closing your eyes.
But before we change anything,
Simply notice the points of contact between your body and the bed.
Noticing your heels,
Your hips,
Your shoulders,
Your head.
We will visit each muscle group,
Thanking it for its work today,
Acknowledging any tension,
And then giving it permission to soften and melt away.
Starting at your feet,
Gently curl your toes as if you're trying to pick up a pencil and hold,
Allowing your toes to uncurl.
Thank your feet for every step they carried you today,
Inviting warmth and ease to spread through your toes and the soles of your feet,
Letting any tightness dissolve into the mattress.
Next,
Pull your toes firmly away from you to engage your calves.
Feel the muscles along the back of your legs tighten and hold.
Breathe in,
Exhale and relax,
Allowing the muscles to loosen and melt beneath you.
Next,
Gently press your knees together while pushing your heels into the mattress.
Feel the inner thighs and the backs of the legs engage and hold.
Exhale and let your knees fall apart naturally.
Recognize the power in your thighs that lift and carry you throughout your day.
Let those large muscles soften and become heavy,
Grateful for this moment of rest.
Now squeezing your buttocks together,
Feeling your hips lift slightly off the mattress and hold.
Breathe in,
Exhale and let the tension vanish,
Feeling your seat drop and widen.
Thank your hips for anchoring and balancing,
Allowing the hips to widen and sink deeper into the support,
Releasing any guardedness that they've carried.
Gently pull your belly button toward your spine,
Tightening the stomach as if you're bracing for a soft touch and hold.
Breathe out and let your stomach soften and expand.
Acknowledge your core for its steady work,
For posture,
Protection and breath.
With each exhale,
Invite the belly and lower back to open and soften,
Letting tension flow away.
Now clench your hands into a fist and squeeze your forearm and draw your fists up toward your shoulders as if you're showing off your bicep muscles and hold this for 3,
2 and letting your fingers uncurl naturally.
Breathe in,
Thank your hands for all that they've held,
Created and tended to today,
Letting your arms grow heavy and relaxed.
Now slowly squeeze your shoulder blades together and hold.
3,
2,
Exhale and relax and slowly lift your shoulders toward your ears,
Feeling the squeeze across your upper back now and hold.
3,
2,
1,
Exhale dropping your shoulders and letting them fall just a little further and relaxing,
Offering gratitude for your shoulders and neck for carrying you both physically and emotionally.
Now feel the space between your ears and shoulders as tension unwinds.
Now squeeze your eyes shut,
Wrinkle your nose and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth,
Gathering the tension in your face into a single expression and hold.
3,
2,
1,
Exhale and imagine smoothing everything out and acknowledging the small muscles in your face that listen,
Speak and express all day long,
Letting your face soften into stillness.
Feel your forehead calm or quiet.
Now scanning your body from head to toe,
Notice the places that worked the hardest and the places that are at rest now.
Offer a gentle thanks to each part for its service.
Invite the whole body to be heavy,
Warm and supported,
Safe to rest and safe to receive the relaxation that it deserves.
Stay here for a few breaths,
Letting gratitude and ease deepen.
Now that your muscles are heavy and at ease,
Simply rest your attention on your breath.
You don't need to change it,
Just notice the gentle rise and fall of the chest,
Like a boat gently rocking on a beautiful body of water.
Then simply encourage your exhale to be a little bit longer than your inhale,
And out for a count of 6.
Drifting on the exhale,
Letting the breath communicate with your mind that there's nowhere to go,
There's nothing left to do.
Imagine that you're safe inside a beautiful stone cottage,
Nestled into the rolling English countryside.
The walls are made of ancient greystone,
Cool to the touch,
With deep-set windows framed by weathered oak.
The ceiling beams are dark and worn,
And worn smooth by centuries.
The room is softly lit by candles and oil lamps that flicker gently in the draft from the old building.
Their flames swaying like dancers in a slow waltz.
Across the room,
A fire burns in the stone fireplace.
Its amber,
Yellow and orange flames casting long,
Gentle shadows that sweep across the walls and ceilings.
The firelight makes everything glow.
The faded tapestry is on the wall,
The spine of books resting on a wooden shelf.
Let's watch the fire for a moment,
And breathe with it.
Notice how the flames rise as you breathe in,
And settle as you breathe out.
Rising and falling,
The fire breathes with you,
A living companion in this quiet space.
Outside,
A gentle rain has begun to fall.
At first,
Just a whisper,
A few drops tapping softly against the thick,
Glass windowpanes.
Then more,
And more,
Until the rain settles into a steady,
Rhythmic beat.
Some drops are light and quick,
Dancing across the slate roof above you,
While others sliding down the glass in slowly winding rivers,
Catching the firelight as they go.
You can hear the rain meeting the garden path outside,
The soft percussion of wet stone and damp earth,
The faint rustle of drops landing in the ivy that climbs the cottage walls.
You've made yourself a cup of tea,
And as you settle into the warm armchair next to the fireplace,
Cradling the warm ceramic mug between your hands,
You notice the lovely scents that surround you.
You smell the ancient aroma of wood smoke drifting from the fireplace,
Earthy and timeless.
You notice the comforting scent of old books lining the tall bookcase,
Their spines faded and familiar,
Holding stories from long ago.
The delicate fragrance of vanilla and lavender tea,
Sweet and floral,
With just a hint of honey to soften it.
Inhale deeply,
Drawing in the soothing blend of lavender and vanilla,
A pristine kiss your face,
And exhale slowly,
Letting your shoulders drop.
You take a slow sip.
The tea is perfectly warm,
Coating your throat with gentle sweetness and calm.
You watch the flames sway and curl,
Their light painting the room in gold.
You watch the raindrops racing down the windowpanes,
Each one catching a flicker of firelight.
Your breathing slows,
Your eyelids grow heavier and heavier,
Until you can hardly hold them open.
Now it's time to move across the room towards the large antique four-poster bed that waits for you in the corner.
The bed is made of dark carved wood,
Sturdy and graceful.
Its posts rise like gentle guardians.
Atop the mattress is a thick,
Cloud-like featherbed that seems to float above the frame.
Layered over it are smooth,
Sateen sheets,
Cool and silky against your skin.
Then a plush cashmere blanket,
Soft as a whisper.
And finally,
Draped across the top,
A luxurious white faux fur blanket that looks like fresh snow,
Impossibly soft and inviting.
You climb in carefully,
Sinking down into those layers.
The featherbed rises up around you,
Cradling your body,
As if it's been waiting just for you.
The sheets cool your skin at first,
Then warm to match your body.
The cashmere wraps you gently,
The faux fur brushes against your cheek like a cloud.
You're surrounded.
Supported.
You're safe.
And you're warm.
You pull the covers up to your chin now,
Tucking yourself into this perfect cocoon of warmth and softness.
Outside,
The rain continues its steady rhythm,
Sometimes louder,
Running against the roof with purpose,
Sometimes softer.
A gentle whisper against the glass.
The fire across the room has settled into a cold embers,
Pulsing like a deep,
Warm fire.
The reasoning lasts for this moment,
Each whisper of yours.
A simplified conversation between the rain and the fire.
The soft crackling wood.
The gentle paddle of water.
Light and shadow.
And you,
Safe in the center of it all,
Wrapped in layers of comfort that hold you like a gentle embrace.
Your body feels heavy now,
Sinking deeper and deeper with each breath.
Your legs are heavy.
Your arms are heavy.
Even your eyelids feel weighted.
There's nowhere you could go.
The night has drawn the curtains on the day.
Time has washed itself clean.
And you,
You are here,
Protected by these ancient stone walls that have stood for centuries,
Sheltering travelers and dreamers just like you.
Let yourself sink even deeper now.
Feel the mattress beneath you.
Feel the warmth all around you.
Noticing how your breathing is slow,
How it matches the rip of the rain,
Like the night itself.
The glow from the fireplace softens.
The shadows grow still.
The rain becomes a lullaby,
Ancient and endless,
Sung just for you.
You're safe to let go now.
Safe to drift off.
Safe to sleep.
And for the next several hours,
The sound of the rain will stay with you,
Washing away yesterday,
Protecting your rest,
Holding space for your dreams.
You don't need to listen to my voice anymore.
You only need to let go.
Let the rain carry you.
Let sleep find you here,
In this perfect,
Peaceful place.
Sleep well,
Rest deeply.
The rain is softening now.
To this new day,
Take your time.
When you're ready,
Take a moment just to feel.
You're safe,
You're warm,
And you're ready for a fresh start.
Drinking in your fresh morning energy,
And let it go with a smile.
Go ahead and stretch your body,
Reaching your arms up,
Pointing your toes,
Stretching,
Feeling how good it is to be in your body today.
Feel your energy coming back,
Bright and clear.
As you wake up,
Let me remind you of your power.
I'm going to share some affirmations with you now.
Listen to my words,
Let them settle into your mind,
With a heart and a peaceful mind.
My life is full of beautiful possibilities,
Energy,
And I attract good energy back to me.
I am supported and I believe in myself and my ability to thrive.
I give myself permission to shine today.
I am in a confident spirit.
I am strong,
I am resilient,
And I am ready.
I am stepping into this day with purpose.
I am the creator of my own success.
Do something nice for somebody.
Have a wonderful day.
I'll see you back here tonight.
