Hello and welcome to this Rumi Wisdom Meditation.
Rumi was a Sufi mystic and a poet from the 13th century and lived in the Middle East.
He lived almost 1000 years ago.
It is still today quoted and revered by the masses.
It's quite incredible when you think about it.
Rumi's influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions.
His wisdom is boundless and can be resonated with almost anyone.
I have written this meditation in honour and celebration of Rumi and to bless the participants with his wisdom.
It's quite a simple meditation.
I have chosen 11 of my favourite Rumi quotes.
I will repeat each one two or three times and then give you about a minute to contemplate on each one.
Although it's tempting to discuss each quote,
I will be silent and allow the listener to make their own judgments and perceptions of them.
I hope the quotes speak to your soul.
If you need longer to contemplate on a particular quote,
Feel free to pause the recording or sit with it at the end.
Firstly,
I'd like you to relax.
It's better to do this meditation sitting up.
If that's too uncomfortable,
Then please lie down.
It's more important that you're comfortable during this practice.
And when you're ready,
If you haven't already,
Close your eyes.
Take a moment here to appreciate the stillness.
Nowhere to be but here and now.
Totally and utterly present.
Let's take a few deep breaths before we start this practice.
Take a long,
Deep,
Slow breath through the nose,
Then a longer breath out through the mouth.
Keep going with these breaths until I continue the practice.
On the exhales,
Just letting go of any stress.
A couple more breaths now.
Wonderful.
Now let's begin.
To ensure you understand the meditation,
I'll just briefly repeat it one more time.
I have chosen 11 of my favourite Rumi quotes.
I will repeat each one two or three times and then give you about a minute to contemplate on each quote.
Here's quote number one.
Raise your words,
Not voice.
It is rain that grows flowers,
Not thunder.
Raise your words,
Not voice.
It is rain that grows flowers,
Not thunder.
I'll give you a minute now to sit with that quote and see what it means for you.
Wrote number two.
You are not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean in a drop.
I feel this one is much deeper than many realise.
I'll repeat that again.
You are not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean in a drop.
Wrote number three.
Yesterday I was clever,
So I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise,
So I am changing myself.
I'll repeat that one more time.
Yesterday I was clever,
So I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise,
So I am changing myself.
Wrote number four.
This place is a dream,
Only a sleeper considers it real.
Then death comes like dawn and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief.
Repeat that again.
This place is a dream,
Only a sleeper considers it real.
Then death comes like dawn and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief.
Before we move on to the next part of the journey,
Before we move on to the next one,
It's just worth pointing out that you won't resonate with every single quote or agree with it all.
Just take what you can from each quote and just leave what you don't want to take anything from.
Wrote number five.
The wound is the place where the light enters you.
The wound is the place where the light enters you.
Wrote number six now.
I want to sing like the birds sing,
Not worrying about who hears or what they think.
Repeat that one more time for you.
I want to sing like the birds sing,
Not worrying about who hears or what they think.
I want to sing like the birds sing,
Not worrying about who hears or what they think.
Wrote number seven from Rumi.
Set your life on fire,
Seek those who fan your flames.
And again,
Set your life on fire,
Seek those who fan your flames.
And again,
Set your life on fire,
Seek those who fan your flames.
Quote number eight.
Gratitude is the wine for the soul.
Go on,
Get drunk.
One more time before you contemplate on this one.
Gratitude is the wine for the soul.
Go on,
Get drunk.
Wrote number nine.
Don't be satisfied with stories,
How things have gone with others.
Unfold your own myth.
Repeat that again.
Don't be satisfied with stories,
How things have gone with others.
Unfold your own myth.
Unfold your own myth.
Wrote number ten.
Be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder.
Help someone's soul heal.
Walk out of your house like a shepherd.
Repeat that again.
Be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder.
Help someone's soul heal.
Walk out of your house like a shepherd.
The last quote now.
I feel this is a beautiful one to finish on.
Quote number eleven.
Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes,
Because for those who love with heart and soul,
There is no such thing as separation.
I'll repeat that one more time.
Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes,
Because for those who love with heart and soul,
There is no such thing as separation.
Goodbyes are only for those who love with heart and soul,
Because for those who love with heart and soul,
There is no such thing as separation.
Thank you for being with me on this meditation.
Again,
If you would like to sit with any of these quotes for longer,
Feel free to do so once the recording stops.
And if you really loved it,
Why not sit and do the meditation again another time.
I hope these quotes touched your soul and you have a beautiful day wherever you are in the world.
From my heart to yours,
Big Love,
Alex
