Hello and welcome to your Connecting to Your Ancestors meditation.
Get into a comfortable seated position.
As you settle in,
Begin to let your body sink into the ground underneath you.
Feel the weight of your body on whatever is supporting it.
Sense that you are safe here,
In your body,
On the earth.
Allow your breath to flow in and out naturally,
Without monitoring or controlling it.
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Letting your body relax and sink more deeply with each breath.
Now,
Picture a system of roots growing from your body,
Down,
Down,
Down.
Connecting you to her center.
Connecting you to your ancient mother.
Remembering that we all come from people of the land.
We all have pre-colonial ancestors.
You,
Too,
Are a child of the earth.
Feel your roots growing stronger.
Feel the warmth and the power rising from her.
Breathe and receive her love and strength.
As you gently bring your attention back to your body,
You realize that a safe space has risen around you.
Take a moment to observe your safe space.
What does it look like?
How does it feel?
Still sensing your strong connection to the earth,
Allow yourself to relax into this safe space.
Now,
We will call forth one of your healed ancestors.
This ancestor may appear to you in many shapes or forms.
It may simply be a feeling.
Allow it to appear to you as it wishes.
Speak clearly in your mind.
Dear Earth Mother,
I ask that you send forth any ancestor who wishes to connect with me today.
I am here to receive their message and wisdom.
I ask for their guidance now.
I open my heart to whatever comes.
I will see what I am meant to see.
I will hear what I am meant to hear.
I will know what I am meant to know.
As you gaze ahead of you into the darkness,
You see something coming toward you.
Perhaps a figure,
A form,
A shape,
An energy.
Allow it to be whatever shows up.
Take a moment to greet your ancestor.
Invite your ancestor to sit down beside you in your safe space.
Feel your roots still strongly connected to the earth.
Feel the energy that your ancestor brings.
I am going to give you some time in silence now to speak with your ancestor.
Ask any questions you would like.
Listen for their answers.
Allow whatever comes.
I will return to guide you back when you are finished.
As you finish your meeting with your ancestor,
Take these last moments to ask any remaining questions or listen for final advice from them.
Remember that they are always here for you whenever you call on them.
Take a moment to say goodbye to them however you would like.
As they gently fade from your view,
Again come back to your safe space.
Feel it around you.
See it around you.
Feel your roots grounding you into your mother earth.
Feel your body on the support beneath it.
Begin to gently move your body.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Perhaps stretch or twist or curl yourself into a little ball.
Take your time to wake the body up and bring yourself back.
When you are ready,
Gently bring yourself back to a seated position,
Grounded in the seat underneath you.
These practices are here for you whenever you need them.
Your ancestors are here for you whenever you need them.
You are safe,
You are loved,
And you are guided.
Take a deep breath in and a deep cleansing breath out.
