This is an exercise intended to help you ground yourself in the present moment,
Letting go of all that came before.
Useful at the end of the workday,
Before going to bed,
Or whenever you find yourself in need of the ability to let go and move on.
Allow yourself to take this moment to pause,
Gently closing the eyes,
Bringing the attention to rest in the breath,
Allowing the breath to anchor your attention in the present moment,
Breathing in and breathing out,
Just coming to rest here and now.
Allow yourself to let go of the busyness of the day,
Stepping back from the hustle and bustle of doing,
Perhaps imagining the stickiness of the thoughts like should and must and to do as spiderwebs,
Tangling back to the past or ahead to the future.
Allow those threads to drift away,
Coming to rest in this moment,
The moment where you've allowed yourself to stop doing and simply be.
If the threads return,
Distracting you from this moment,
Simply allow yourself to acknowledge that you've once again been caught in the web of thinking and gently let go,
Returning to the present,
Allowing the thoughts to fade away.
Simply noticing what is present in this moment,
What feelings or sensations are arising.
If you find this moment difficult to sit with,
Ask yourself,
Can I accept this?
Can I simply allow this to be instead of rushing to fix,
To plan,
To do?
Just for this one moment,
This one breath.
You can either continue here or you can open your eyes,
Return to the room,
Bringing with yourself a sense of intentionality and gratitude for allowing yourself this pause.
