Mushrumity: A Postcard of Connection is a short, heart-centered reflection on community, inspired by the quiet wisdom of the forest. Through the lens of the mycelium — nature’s hidden web of communication — this piece reminds us that healing and growth don’t happen in isolation. We, too, thrive when we share what we have and root into one another’s presence. Pour your coffee, take a breath, and listen to this gentle reminder that we’re never really alone — we’re part of something vast, alive, and beautifully connected.

Good morning love!

Oh,

Holy cow,

I have the greatest teachers.

The universe,

For one,

And specifically Mother Nature.

I got up this morning,

Poured me some coffee,

And sat down with my oracle cards.

I have a couple decks,

One of them about mushrooms and one about Mother Earth.

Most mornings I pull a couple cards for inspiration or reflection.

You know,

Something to help guide my awareness for the day.

I've always drawn cards from one deck or the other,

But a few weeks ago I felt called to combine the two decks.

And since then,

I've been pulling from both.

And most of the time I get a wonderful mix.

But this morning as I was shuffling,

I set an intention that whatever cards came through,

I would only read the ones from the Mother Earth deck.

Now I have never said that before,

And I don't know why I did then,

But three cards came out.

Two mushroom cards,

And one from Mother Earth.

And wouldn't you know it?

The one that came out from Mother Earth was the mushroom card of that deck.

I literally laughed out loud.

It felt like the universe was winking at me.

And I knew that I had to send you a postcard this morning.

Once I got over the hilarity of it all,

I sat in the message of that card and listened as the message came through for me that day.

The message was community.

If you've ever learned about mushrooms,

You'll know how magical they are.

And if not,

Let me tell you a couple things about them.

So beneath the ground,

They create a vast network,

The mycelium.

It's like the forest's nervous system,

A living web or matrix that connects the trees and plants to each other,

Sharing nutrients,

Sending signals,

Even helping young or struggling plants to grow stronger.

It's nature's way of whispering,

Hey,

We're in this together.

And that I believe is a lesson for us too.

We need connection,

Just like the forest does.

We're not meant to do this life alone.

Sure,

There are times when solitude is sacred,

When we need to pull back and heal.

But true growth,

The kind that roots deeply and lasts,

That happens in relationship.

Relationship of any kind is both our greatest source of joy and often our deepest invitation to heal,

To learn,

To grow and evolve.

We can learn alone,

But we are only transformed together.

When I think about the mycelium network,

I can't help but see how much it mirrors what is meant for us as humans.

We too thrive when we share what we have,

Whether it be our time,

Our compassion,

Kindness,

Or just our presence.

When one of us is strong,

We strengthen others.

And when one of us struggles,

The rest of the web can send nourishment in ways that words can't always explain.

And just like in the forest,

This isn't always about big and loud gestures.

Sometimes connection is a soft check-in,

A warm thought,

A smile,

A prayer whispered in someone's direction.

We never really know how far those things reach.

So maybe,

Just maybe,

This morning's reminder and focus,

You know,

That little cosmic joke from the mushroom card,

Is that community is essential.

That community is sacred,

And that even when we can't see it,

The network is there,

Pulsing beneath us,

Holding us.

We're not meant to do this alone,

Love.

Healing might begin in solitude,

But wholeness?

Wholeness comes when we find our way back to one another.

Are you able to connect in some way today?

Let's give it a try.

I love you.
