Long,

Long ago,

In the beautiful land of ancient Greece,

There was a boy named Adonis.

Adonis was known far and wide for his incredible beauty.

His golden hair glowed in the sunlight,

And his smile made everyone happy.

He was loved by everyone,

But most of all,

He was adored by Aphrodite,

The goddess of love and beauty.

Aphrodite had never seen anyone as handsome as Adonis.

She watched him grow into a strong,

Young man,

And couldn't help but fall deeply in love with him.

She would spend many days with Adonis,

Teaching him how to take care of the animals and the flowers in the meadows,

And the two shared a wonderful bond.

But there was danger to their happiness.

Ares,

The god of war,

Was also in love with Aphrodite.

He didn't like that she loved Adonis,

And jealously began to grow in his heart.

One day,

While Adonis was out hunting,

Ares saw an opportunity to take revenge.

He turned himself into a wild boar and attacked Adonis.

Adonis tried to defend himself,

But the boar was too strong.

He was badly injured,

And though Aphrodite rushed to his side,

It was too late to save him.

She wept for her lost love,

And in her sorrow,

Her tears mixed with the blood of Adonis,

Creating beautiful red anemone flowers to grow on the ground where he had fallen.

Though Adonis was gone,

His story didn't end there.

Every year,

Aphrodite would visit the earth,

And the flowers would bloom again,

A symbol of Adonis' life and love.

His spirit lived on in the beauty of nature,

Reminding everyone that even in sadness,

Beauty can be found.
