This recording begins with a lesson.
To skip to the meditation,
Go to 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
The word malach gets poorly translated into English as angel,
But is more accurately translated as messenger.
Throughout the Bible,
The word malach is used when kings send messengers out or when God sends messengers out to different people.
And that can help you understand better the story of Jacob's ladder.
So Jacob leaves his home after taking the birthright from his brother and receiving amazing blessings from his father.
And heads out of his ancestral lands to the lands of his uncle Lavan.
But on the way,
He comes upon a place and rests his head.
And has a dream of a ladder.
And going up and down this ladder are malachim.
The question is,
What are these messengers doing exactly?
What are the messages that they are carrying with them as they climb up into the heavens and make their way back down towards Jacob?
And one potential answer that I've come to of recent,
Is that perhaps in this place of sleep,
When our souls are no longer limited to the constraints of the body,
And are free to explore the higher levels of our soul,
The celestial realms,
Higher wisdom and beauty and truth,
That what we are doing is climbing up that ladder and grabbing insights that we need down here in this murky physical plane in which we live.
And we can do that during sleep with intention or without intention.
The cool thing about doing it with intention is that you can choose to use this time of sleep to grab hold of the truths that you know to be self-evident,
But that you struggle to believe in your heart and in your bones.
Things like you are unconditionally loved.
The world is a safe place.
Your existence is infinite.
And everything is okay.
There is a higher part of us that believes these things,
But some young and scared and sad and angry parts of us that really struggle to access such knowings.
So in this meditation,
What I'm going to invite you to do is to relax into such a deep state that your mind and heart are wide open to receive more of this divine programming,
To be touched more by the beauty of your soul.
And even after you drift off into sleep,
I will continue imprinting into your subconscious these messages of light and love and acceptance so that you can come into a new day tomorrow more in love with yourself,
More in light,
And more in joy.
Sending you blessings from Jerusalem.
I invite you to lay down in a comfortable position,
One in which you'll be able to drift off into sleep and continue listening to this meditation until you wake up in the morning and become aware of your breath,
Of the rise and fall of your belly and chest as you breathe,
Of the calming of your heartbeat,
Of the ever so gently settling of your joints into the support of the mat beneath you.
And as you breathe,
Allow yourself to experience how you are being breathed,
As if divine lips were breathing a nishmat chayim,
A breath of life into your nostrils,
And a divine hand,
As it were,
Were holding your heart ever so gently and pumping that breath of life into every fiber of your being.
From the top of your head,
Relaxing the muscles of your scalp and brow,
And ease into your neck and shoulders.
Take one slow,
Big breath,
And with a slow,
Big exhale,
Let any tension in your shoulders just roll right off,
As you sink even more deeply into the mat,
And feel that relaxation make its way down your arms,
To your elbows and wrists,
And all the way to your fingertips,
So that your arms grow heavier and heavier with every breath you take,
And feel that nishmat chayim make its way down your spine,
One vertebra at a time,
Inviting a greater expansion in your chest,
A softening in your diaphragm,
And a loosening in all of the organs of your belly,
And feel your back letting go,
Sinking even more.
Now invite your hips to unlock,
So that flow of relaxation can wash down your legs,
To your knees and ankles,
And all the way to the tips of your toes,
Inviting your legs to grow heavier and heavier still,
Into the support of the mat beneath you.
I invite you now to imagine that whatever space you're inhabiting right now is filled with divine light,
It is a warm light infused with love,
With presence,
With acceptance of who you are,
Just as you are,
And feel that light kissing your skin,
And allow your pores to open up,
To soak that light in like a sponge,
And the presence and the acceptance make their way into your tissues and muscles,
And soak in even more deeply,
Until that light fills your entire body,
And warms the very center of your heart,
The place of Tiferet,
Of beauty,
And harmony,
And as you stay centered in your heart,
I invite you to imagine that just above your head,
At a distance that feels safe and comfortable,
There is a ladder that reaches all the way up into the heavens,
This is Sulam Yaakov,
That very same ladder that Jacob saw in his dream,
And allow your awareness to climb up that ladder,
So as you grab onto that first rung,
Feel your body growing heavier,
Even as your heart grows lighter and bigger,
And take that second rung,
And feel yourself accessing more divine love,
More divine light,
More divine beauty,
And take the fifth rung,
As you climb up to the sixth,
And when you reach the seventh,
Feel your breath expanding in awe,
As you're getting closer and closer to the higher realms,
Where all is love,
And reach up even more,
To the eighth,
And just as you get to the tenth rung,
Allow a smile to come upon your face,
For you can allow yourself to feel that you have arrived to a realm of infinite knowing,
Of infinite compassion,
And here it is easy to know the truths of your soul,
Of your heart,
And of your being,
By the divine,
Perfectly gathering wisdom here,
To the beloved of the divine,
You are chosen,
For this moment,
And this moment,
And this moment,
You are always welcome into the embrace of the divine,
You,
Just as you are,
You are your birthright,
Wisdom is your birthright,
Your birthright,
I invite you to gather all of these truths,
Into your arms,
And bring them down the ladder,
And now ever so gently,
Inscribe these truths,
Into the heart of this body,
You normally inhabit,
Etch them into the mind,
Of this body,
You normally inhabit,
And massage these truths,
Into every fiber of its being,
So that when this body awakens,
It will remember,
The truth of your soul,
The truth of who you really are,
So gently,
Lay these messages down,
Inscribe them in,
Massage them in,
As a mother,
Massages,
Oil onto her newly washed baby,
Let this body know,
How loved it really is,
How precious,
It really is,
How divine,
It really is,
And again,
Even more tenderly,
Even more lovingly,
And because the body,
Can sometimes forget,
The truths of the soul,
I invite you,
To climb up the ladder,
And again,
Over the course of the night,
Grabbing more of these truths,
And bringing them down,
Into your body,
So that when you arise in the morning,
You will remember,
Who you are,
I invite you to come back,
Into the present moment,
And back into your body,
By wiggling your fingers,
And wiggling your toes,
And slowly batting your eyes open,
Ready to bless the world,
With your gaze,
