The power of prayer.
In 2004,
The National Institute of Health issued a statement saying that according to a survey of more than 31,
000 adults,
Prayer is the most common alternative medicine.
According to NIH,
Prayer is mind-body therapy more popular than acupuncture,
Chiropractic,
Yoga,
And vitamins.
For many Americans,
Every day is a day of prayer.
More than half,
55% of Americans say they pray every day,
While 21% say they pray weekly or monthly.
Even among those who are religiously unaffiliated,
20% say they pray daily.
Women 64% are more likely than men,
At 46%,
To pray every day.
And Americans age 65 and older are far more likely than adults under 30 to say they pray daily.
You can be sure of one thing,
That when people are on a plane and things get a little scary or bumpy,
Many prayers are said.
I can often feel a shift in the energy of a plane when something happens to scare the people on board and they get very quiet and they start to pray.
Prayer does project a tangible energy force.
There is wonderful comfort and power in prayer.
If you encounter a situation that is overwhelming or downright scary,
You'll find that it helps to take a few moments to go within and pray.
Have a conversation with God.
Ask for guidance and protection.
Don't be afraid to ask for help.
God is there for you,
And the spark of His light and love are always with you to call upon.
I feel that life works best when you're in constant awareness of your connection to God.
The prayers are not spoken in desperation or as pleased.
They are a way to clear a channel between you and God.
They're always asked with an awareness that it is God's will that will be done.
Talk to God as your closest friend and confidant.
He she knows all of you more than any other person may.
Even if you don't feel it makes a difference,
You will find that it helps to develop a relationship with God.
You're building a relationship with Him daily in so many ways.
There are so many religions that have a different point of view about prayer.
Many get extremely upset if you pray to anyone but God.
I certainly do think God is the one source of all creation,
And I certainly agree that prayers to God are good.
But you may pray to Mother Mary,
And you may pray to the angels,
But why not go to the direct source?
So much about prayers are misunderstood.
I've found over years of praying every day that if you go with an open heart and pray with the right intention and ask for the prayer to be sent for the highest good of all,
It takes you to a higher place where the personal ego is removed.
We have no idea what really is for the highest good.
Even though we always want our prayers to come true,
It's God's will that has to be accepted.
Prayers get answered in many ways,
Often by people or others around us that convey the answer to our prayers.
It's so important to know miracles also happen every day,
But they do not happen on command.
It is ultimately God's will that is at work in the world,
Not our will.
Prayers do work,
But only if they're for the divine or highest good of all.
We can't even begin to imagine the bigger picture at work on the path and each and every soul's journey.
Only God knows that.
I try to end prayers often with thank you God,
Which seals the belief that knows your prayers are heard,
But you certainly can say amen to seal a prayer.
Here are some prayers that you can say when you're traveling.

Lead us to the life to live with love as we pray for us to be kind and to watch what we say and shine your light upon us to show us the way.

Do we need a miracle to happen and a happy ending to come?
Are we even aware that God is right here?
We can always come to terms with ourselves if we take the time to be aware that we can talk to God and share our cares.
Yes,
Miracles do occur and prayers can be heard,
But sometimes they don't and we have to accept the bigger picture here.
Can we embrace life come what may with its moments of joy,
The good and the bad things and whatever happens each day?
Can we learn to pray always and talk to God as our friend to love the Father and Mother and commune with them within?
Can we walk in the steps of the Teacher and become instruments of His love to learn here on earth till we graduate to heaven above?
Thank you God for each and every day and lead us to live with love and pray for us to be kind and to watch what we say,
To shine your light upon us and show us the way.
A Traveler's Prayer I attune my mind to the source of all energy.
I attune my heart to perfect unconditional love.
I ask to be able to express this love.
I ask for understanding and being able to accept that whatever happens that is beyond my will,
I trust that it is for the highest good.
May I choose to be objective and kind when faced with challenging circumstances?
May I know that I can ask for help from within and without and that I will be okay.
I send my highest energy of love and light to the world this and every day.
The Peace Prayer of St.
Francis Lord make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred,

The Lord's Prayer There have been many translations of the Lord's Prayer but here are two that I love.
They're translated from the Aramaic version by John Mark Hammer.
Father,
Mother of the Cosmos,
Shimmering light of all.
Use your light within us as we breathe your holy breath.
Enter the sanctuary of our hearts,
Uniting within us the sacred rays of your power and beauty.
Let your heart's desire unite heaven and earth throughout our sacred union.
Forgive our secret fears as we freely choose to forgive the secret fears of others.
Let us not enter into forgetfulness,
Tempted by false appearances,
For from your astonishing fire comes the eternal song which sanctifies all.
Renewed eternally in our lives and throughout creation,

Here's another Aramaic translation of the Lord's Prayer.

A prayer for protection.
Beloved Heavenly Father and Mother God,

There are prayers.
If for a moment you could just hear all the prayers asking for help in the world.
There are prayers for peace.
There are prayers for humankind.
There are prayers that are just waiting for God's help,
You'd find.
And some ask for miracles,
And some bargain with the Lord,
And some are in such need that a Hail Mary is asked for.
And many are pleased from those in great fear,
And some are spoken when broken on their knees in supplication here.
When there's no hope left and prayers are called for.
When the pain is so great and some amazing grace is begged for.
Then we might see prayers that are answered in so many ways.
And we are so grateful when we are given our way.
And we believe it's true that some prayers are spoken only when in need for you.
Even the Masters need prayers every day.
And if we could hear what in prayers they say,
We might find hope when there's no hope to find.
Even if you don't know it,
There may be someone out there praying for you.
Is there a candle out there that burns with your name?
Is a light shining in the darkness to see you through?
And if you were able to listen to hear the prayers from the desperate and broken souls that beseech God to help them to end their fear,
It would seem all the prayers that are calling out might be more than you could bear.
Is that why we all have been asked to have faith?
For some prayers are met and some prayers do save,
And always there are some miracles that are made.
So I'm reminded to remember that it's true that God and Jesus need your prayers to help them to make all of those other prayers come true.
The Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra is revered and recited in most Buddhist traditions.
It aids in self-liberation and is said to lead to enlightenment.
I find it very helpful to say every day.
It's a very,
Very ancient text and there are so many interpretations of it.
It helps to really put things in perspective,
Especially when you find yourself getting in deep and losing a little bit of objectivity.
Avalokitesvara,
The bodhisvata of compassion,
Practicing deeply on the perfection of wisdom,
Saw clearly that the five aspects of human existence are empty and so released himself from suffering.
Answering the monk Sharaputra,
He said this,
Body is nothing more than emptiness.
Emptiness nothing more than body.
The body is exactly empty and emptiness is exactly body.
The other four aspects of human existence,
Feeling,
Thought,
Will and consciousness are likewise nothing more than emptiness.
And emptiness nothing more than they.
All things are empty.
Nothing is born,
Nothing dies,
Nothing is pure,
Nothing is stained,
Nothing increases and nothing decreases.
So in emptiness there is no body,
No feeling,
No thought,
No will,
No consciousness.
There are no eyes,
No ears,
No nose,
No tongue,
No body,
No mind.
There is no seeing,
No hearing,
No smelling,
No tasting,
No touching,
No imagining.
There is nothing seen,
Nothing heard,
Nor smelled,
Nor tasted,
Nor touched,
Nor imagined.
There is no ignorance and no end to ignorance.
There is no old age and death.
There is no end to old age and death.
There is no suffering,
No cause of suffering,
No end to suffering,
No path to follow.
There is no attainment of wisdom and no wisdom to attain.
The Bodhisattvas rely on the perfection of wisdom and so with no delusions they feel no fear.
They have nirvana here and now.
All the Buddhas past,
Present and future rely on the perfection of wisdom and live in full enlightenment.
The perfection of wisdom is the greatest mantra.
It is the clearest mantra,
The highest mantra,
The mantra that removes all suffering.
This is the truth and cannot be doubted.

Which means gone,

Gone over,
Gone fully over,
Awakened,
So be it.
A prayer for Mother Earth.
O Great Spirit,
We send our light and love for the healing of planet Earth and to the existence of the plant,
Animal and mineral kingdoms and to all beings incarnate and disincarnate.
May we help to balance,
Restore and heal the polarities,
Rhythms and cycles of natural forces.
