The lights are just right in your room and you're wearing your cosy,

Comfy pyjamas so that all is well in the world and you can relax your body and let go of your busy,

Busy day.

Heidi,

Cherry and Veya,

Along with Mr Kitty,

Poe and Sasha had gone over to Tucker and Leo's house.

Everybody was together.

Everybody was in town.

It was the perfect,

Perfect time to become human.

They were going to go over to Tucker and Leo's because Tucker and Leo,

The dogs,

Had the magical stone.

A while ago,

Tucker had found a stone in the back garden and it was magical.

It was very,

Very magical,

Actually.

Every time Tucker held it up to the sun or the moon,

A wonderful,

Beautiful,

Kind angel would appear in the stone and allow Tucker one wish.

Every time Tucker had wished the same thing,

That they would all become human.

So Heidi,

Cherry and Veya,

Along with Mr Kitty,

Poe,

Would all be humans instead of cats.

And Sasha,

The dog that visited next door to Tucker and Leo,

Would become human too.

And when they became human,

They were all kind of around teen,

Early teens.

They saw the world from that perspective.

Sometimes it was serious and sometimes it was funny and they went on all different adventures and today was going to be the same.

Today,

Tucker wanted everyone to come together for Thanksgiving.

Oh,

I can't wait,

Leo.

I can't wait to see all of my friends doing their thing as humans.

It will be so awesome for us all to sit together and just be together and just,

You know,

Do our thing.

Leo was in a very good mood.

Why not?

His bestie,

The one that made him blush,

Sasha,

Was in town.

Sasha lived in Mexico and she would come over sometimes to visit the neighbours next door.

They were part of her family.

This time she was in town for a whole week and she was very,

Very excited about it and so was Leo.

They did nothing but talk to each other through the fence and sometimes they got to be together outside on the front garden and sometimes,

Just like this,

They got to hang out,

Hang out.

So why would Leo not be happy?

Tucker went outside.

He walked over,

Oh,

Decided he needed to pee first,

And then he walked over to his Buddha statue.

The Buddha statue on the back garden was quite big and it had a patch of dirt behind it,

Where Tucker usually digs and hides the stone.

So he went outside,

He peed,

And then he went over to the Buddha statue and he dug up his beautiful white stone and he held it up to what was now the moon.

A big,

Beautiful,

Bright,

Silver moon in the sky.

Tucker held his stone up to the moon and the white,

Opaque stone started to glimmer and get brighter and the golden flecks and veins that ran through the stone got really,

Really bright,

As if they were waking up like twinkle,

Twinkle lights.

And then his angel appeared,

Just like she always does.

She looks like she's hovering in the sky,

Just flapping her wings gently,

Looking down at Tucker and smiling.

She says,

You get one wish,

Just one wish.

Tucker said,

I think you know me now.

I think you know me,

My beautiful angel.

And this time,

Yes,

Again,

Yes,

Yes,

Again,

We want to be human,

All of my friends,

All of us.

Tucker closed his eyes and by the time he opened his eyes,

He was wearing a very fancy dinner suit.

OMG.

He even had a tie on,

Guys.

It looked so smart.

It looked like James Bond,

Like he was ready for business.

Wow,

He thought to himself as he looked down.

He flicked his black,

Thick hair,

Just like Justin Bieber does,

Flicked it out of his eyes.

Tucker was quite suave as a human.

He was very cute.

He walked into the house and everyone was sat around the big dining table.

The dining table looked like it had a feast for kings on it.

Giant roasted turkey,

Sweet potatoes with marshmallow,

Green beans and that mushroomy stuff that they do.

Big,

Big pile of mashed potatoes.

There were carrots,

Sprouts,

Broccoli.

There was stuffing.

Everyone had a glass in front of them filled with cranberry sparkling apple juice.

It was going to be a night to remember.

He looked at Heidi.

She was wearing a silver dress that sparkled as if it had a thousand stars on it.

She had black rimmed glasses and her hair up in a bun and she looked very,

Very beautiful and sophisticated.

Then he looked at Cherry and blushed a little bit.

Cherry was wearing a deep burgundy red dress.

She had a red bow in her hair and her hair was down.

Her ginger curls all around her.

Lots and lots of freckles on her face.

Veya was wearing white to match her white hair.

She had on a white fluffy headband.

Earrings that dropped and had snowflakes on them.

And then she had a white dress with a fur trim at the top that went around her neck.

She looked like an ice skating queen.

Sasha was wearing a deep blue velvet dress.

She looked wonderful.

So,

So classy and sophisticated.

Poe looked very,

Very smart.

He was wearing a suit,

Just like Tucker.

Leo was wearing a suit.

D'Angelo was wearing a suit.

Everyone was ready to celebrate.

What were they celebrating?

Each other.

Tucker sat down at the table.

Everyone lifted their sparkling cranberry apple juice and cheered.

They all took a sip for good luck.

And then Cherry started.

OMG!

OMG!

I can't believe we're all together like this.

So nice!

So nice!

Look at us all.

We look so awesome.

I mean,

I look awesome,

But everyone else looks even awesomer.

Well,

You know,

Closely awesome to me.

Everybody started laughing.

Cherry said,

I want to say,

First of all,

I'm so grateful.

I'm so grateful for all of you guys being my friends.

And of course,

My sisters.

She looked at Heidi and Veya.

I'm so grateful to have you in my life,

Tucker.

She gave him a smile.

Leo.

She smiled at Leo.

Everyone.

Everyone.

What would we do without each other?

Heidi said,

I'm grateful.

I'm grateful that we all can be ourselves with each other.

We all appreciate who we are,

Our differences.

Some things we have in common and some things we're totally different.

I appreciate my friend Poe and how much we have in common and how much we can talk and laugh and share all of the same interests.

She blushed a little bit and Poe smiled at her.

I'm just glad that we can all be friends.

She said.

Leo said.

I am so grateful.

I'm grateful for friends.

He looked at Sasha.

I'm grateful for fences and neighbors.

He looked at Sasha.

Sasha giggled.

I'm grateful that we can all be in each other's space.

We can all respect and love each other.

And feel safe.

Safety was a big thing for Leo,

And he felt safe with all of these people,

All of these friends.

D'Angelo said.

I am so grateful for Vea.

Vea lights up my world.

Vea is my North Star.

Poe said,

Hey,

Less of the poetry.

You're putting me to shame.

D'Angelo smiled and laughed.

Vea is my North Star.

Vea smiled,

Her eyes twinkled.

Vea said,

Ditto.

D'Angelo smiled and said,

Of course,

Of course,

I'm grateful for everyone else.

The whole table laughed at the same time.

Vea said,

I am grateful for my whole world.

I'm grateful to be alive.

I'm grateful to have you all as friends.

And most of all,

I'm grateful that I have someone as special as D'Angelo in my life.

Those two had a moment as if the whole table disappeared from around them.

It was so sweet.

Their smiles were so sweet.

Tucker said,

Wow,

Wow,

This is so great.

I'm just,

I'm just really,

Really happy,

He said.

That's all I can say.

I'm just grateful that we're all here and I'm happy.

Everybody lifted their glasses again.

Had a drink of their fancy sparkling cranberry champagne.

And then Tucker said,

Let's eat.

And the feast began.

OMG,

Said Cherry at one point.

Why would you put marshmallows on potatoes?

But it works.

She was scoffing away at the sweet potatoes with marshmallows and cinnamon and brown sugar and butter.

What a weird combo.

It was more like dessert than than actual potatoes.

But she loved it.

The green bean casserole went down a storm.

Tucker woofed it.

Just like he was a dog again.

We'll have to tell mum to make this one more often,

He said.

They had the best time.

Just being together.

It could have been any day of the year.

It didn't have to be Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving has its own meaning,

Right?

And not all the countries in the world celebrate Thanksgiving.

And even the country that they're celebrating,

Some people don't really appreciate Thanksgiving.

But it's not about it being Thanksgiving.

It's about being thankful.

It's like having Christmas and giving gifts.

Take away Christmas,

You still enjoy giving gifts.

The kids were enjoying being grateful for each other.

Being thankful for being alive,

Appreciating the space,

The food,

The breath,

Everything.

They had one night where they really sat and appreciated.

And they were grateful.

And that's super important.

Tucker closed his eyes at one point in the night and said a special thank you to his angel.

He barely ever got to say thank you to her because she'd disappear and he was already human.

But he made a point of closing his eyes and sending a wish of thanks.

Thank you so much.

The night went super,

Super well.

They ate so much that their bellies got so big and so full that when they were sat on the sofa later,

Watching a movie,

Each one of them kept burping and tooting and they kept laughing.

It was like being sat around a campfire of cowboys that had eaten too many beans.

It's like a song.

And that made them laugh so much.

The fact that they could all toot in front of each other was actually funny.

And then eventually the night ended.

Everybody went home and Tucker and Leo got on their big,

Soft,

Comfortable dog bed,

Snuggled in,

Got close to each other and fell fast asleep.
