In this episode,
We'll be taking a look at candle magic.
Candle magic is a simple and common form of spellcasting,
And you've probably already practiced it your entire life,
On each of your birthdays.
By making a wish and blowing out your birthday candles,
You are using candle magic to make your intentions known to the universe.
As with any type of spellworking,
There are a few simple ingredients.
You will need to have an intention,
Ground and center,
And focus and direct your energy.
As for the candle to use,
You will always want to start with a new one.
Smaller candles,
Such as chime candles,
Are often preferred,
Since you will want to allow the candle to burn down completely.
And since I already mentioned birthdays,
Birthday candles are a great choice for magical workings,
Because they are easy to find and quite affordable.
Some practitioners will choose the color of their candle according to the color correspondences of their desired working,
Such as black for banishing or orange for attraction.
Pairing color with your intention is great,
Because it allows for even stronger visualization,
But your intent itself is the key ingredient.
If colors aren't important to you,
Or if you're having difficulty finding the right one,
Why light is always considered to be a catch-all for any working.
A common practice is dressing the candle with oil and dried herbs,
Again,
Choosing them according to their magical correspondences.
To dress a candle with oil,
Such as grapeseed oil,
Rub the oil on your candle with your forefinger,
Top to bottom,
To bring something to you,
Bottom to top,
To send something away from you.
From there,
The candle can be rolled in herbs of your choice.
Then comes the most important part,
Setting your intention.
Ground and center.
Wrap both of your hands around the candle and charge it with your intent by focusing on it.
Some practitioners will even write their intentions by carving sigils onto a side of the candle.
Once you have built up and directed your energy,
Say your intention aloud and light the candle.
Sit with the candle until it burns down completely,
All the while visualizing the flame fueling and broadcasting your intention.
