As someone who suffers through July 4th fireworks in the US, and who has tried to help many suffering pets get through it, the sentiment of this piece really spoke to me. Sure, they can be pretty. But when I hear them I think of the line in the American national anthem about "bombs bursting in air" and how they literally celebrate the bombs of war and people being blown to bits. I find such violent metaphors as disturbing as the unpredictable bombardment of the fireworks in suburban neighborhoods. Thank you for your kind and compassionate thoughts and for this musical work 🙏
