Dieting and the Office For many people,
The office is a high-calorie trap.
There are office breaks,
The building cafeteria,
Local restaurants,
And the countless reasons people use to bring food to the workplace.
It seems to always be somebody's birthday,
Retirement,
Engagement,
Or divorce.
Then there are the office parties to celebrate holidays.
All of this can make losing weight and keeping it off very difficult.
So be sure to eat a well-balanced breakfast at home.
Don't stop at the local drive-thru on your way.
If you come to work with a full stomach and are satisfied with what you ate at home,
It will be easier to resist the donuts later on.
Don't keep food at your desk.
If you do,
It will be easy to start snacking while working.
Don't even eat lunch at your desk.
Find an alternative so you won't associate working at your desk with eating.
Avoid joining co-workers during coffee breaks if it involves eating.
And don't participate in coffee clubs.
You'll be tempted to eat in order to get your money's worth.
If you can,
Bring your lunch.
If you can't,
Then have someone else get your lunch at the cafeteria.
The most important thing is to avoid having to make decisions when you are hungry.
Plan activities during breaks and lunch.
Exercise during those times.
Take a walk to burn up calories and alleviate boredom,
Or do some errands.
Be sure to plan ahead for office parties.
If you have an idea of the menu ahead of time,
You can plan the day's meals accordingly.
A lot of office eating is habit.
Become aware of yours and replace those that encourage weight gain with new,
Healthy,
Appropriate habits.
