" Surrender To The Stillness". In honor of World Sleep Day, Sarah Blondin and Garth Stevenson have collaborated on a beautiful sleep meditation for Insight Timer. Get comfortable in your warm bed and surrender your mind and body to the gentle current of the night.
Transcript
If you can surrender yourself to the stillness,
You will begin to see there is a quiet world inside you.
There is a pool of calm water.
Sleep is a form of surrender.
Surrendering our minds and our bodies to the gentle current of the night.
The secret art of letting go and letting be.
Finding rest now in the warmth of your bed,
In the quiet of the room surrounding you.
Find a still point within yourself now.
I want you to take a deep inhale now from the bottom of your belly all the way up to the top of your head and then hold.
Hold.
And release.
And as you release,
Let all your tissues and fibers relax.
Taking another deep inhale from the bottom of your belly all the way up to the top of your head.
Collecting stress and worries and holding it at the top of your head.
Hold.
Hold.
And release,
Letting your body relax even further than the first time.
Imagine handing your body to the sound of the waves.
Watching everything you've been holding dissolve.
Watching the stress,
The worries,
The doing float up and away from your body,
From your mind,
From your heart.
Let it leave into the air around you.
Like wind or water,
Just let it go.
There is a world of quiet within you.
There is a pool of calm water.
Drop deep into your body now becoming heavy.
Sinking like a stone into the comfort of your sheets,
Your pillow.
Imagine your bed holding you.
And with your imagination,
I want you to see a glowing palm of light rubbing your chest,
Your heart,
Your ribs.
Relax,
Dear one.
Know that it is safe to rest in your true nature.
Sinking deeper and heavier now.
The palm of light is now touching your right shoulder,
Your left shoulder,
Your lips,
Your chin.
It slides from the base of your neck down your spine now,
All the way to your tailbone.
Your right hip,
Your left hip,
Your right kneecap,
Your left kneecap,
Your right foot,
Your left foot.
Imagine becoming soft without walls.
Imagine becoming the night's gentle breath.
And let it breathe you into the grace of release,
Dear one.
There is nothing for you to hold,
No worlds to organize,
No pain to maintain,
No walls to uphold.
Let yourself return to the quiet of your life,
The quiet of your being.
And let space open around you now,
Feeling out beyond your feet into the room.
Out beyond your right shoulder,
Out beyond your left shoulder,
Beyond your ears,
Behind your back,
In front of your chest,
In your belly,
In your ribs,
Beyond your fingertips.
Feel a space around your entire head.
Become buoyant in the arms of the night.
Bringing your attention now to your heart.
Finding your pulse,
Your rhythm,
Your heartbeat.
Imagine that your heart is breathing.
Thank you for showing me love.
Thank you for upholding my life.
For comforting me,
Guiding me,
Caring for me.
Thank you that I can feel,
That I can hold.
Thank you that I can care,
That I can love,
That I can heal.
Thank you for never leaving me alone.
Hearing these words of gratitude be heard and felt by your heart.
Witnessed by your being.
Feeling the health and harmony of your words.
Feeling your very tissues,
Your blood,
Your breath.
Becoming well by your own attention and care.
Thank you for being with me.
Thank you for being with me.
Thank you for being with me.
Resting in your calmness now.
All the wellness you created.
Resting in your peace.
Resting in your peace.
Resting in your peace.
Resting in your peace.
Resting in your peace.
Resting in your peace.
Surrender all of you now to the waves.
Letting your own gentle rhythm rock you to sleep.
Letting your breath soothe.
Letting your heart quiet.
Letting all be.
Watching every bit of your being dissolve into the water.
Letting go of your toes,
Your legs.
Releasing your hips,
Your stomach,
Your ribs,
Your chest.
Opening the heart,
The shoulders.
Release and dissolve.
Spread wide and away.
Letting go of your head,
Your ears.
Letting go of all the air and the wind and the tension.
Letting go of your head,
Your shoulders.
Letting go of your head,
Your hips.
Becoming nothing.
Nothing.
Nowhere.
No time.
Nowhere.
Nowhere.
Nowhere.
