Welcome to this meditation that you can do to work through conflict or unresolved issues with someone you love.
This is a nice meditation to do on your own to help you work through your feelings and ideas around this conflict without actually having to be in the other person's presence.
If your person is an active part of your life,
You may or may not want to share your thoughts and insights from this meditation with them later.
Sometimes,
However,
The person we have unresolved conflict with is gone,
Out of your life,
Or maybe passed away.
Maybe you know that it simply wouldn't help to try to talk to them.
Whatever the situation may be,
This will be an opportunity for you to sit with your thoughts and feelings and even express them.
Some people believe that everyone has a soul and that a higher self remains present no matter what the body is up to.
Even if that soul is covered over with addiction,
Trauma,
Pain,
Hatred,
Or anything else,
It's still in there somewhere and we can call on it when we need to.
For this meditation,
That is the aspect of our person we will be calling in.
Their highest self,
Their best self,
A healed version of them that can really listen to you and maybe even communicate something of themselves.
They don't need to be in your life or even alive to be able to have this conversation.
If you haven't already,
I invite you to settle into your seat or a comfortable position for this meditation.
You might want to have a journal nearby to write down your notes afterwards.
Some people might like to light a candle to set the space.
Notice your breath and attend to it.
It might need a sigh or yawn or simply to be noticed.
Fidget and adjust your body so that you can release any surface tension that may be sitting there.
Allow your mind to settle into the earth below you,
The land you are on,
And your relationship with this land that is holding you right now.
Now imagine with me a circle of protection around you,
Setting the clear intention that we are inviting energies that are in alignment with the highest good.
Any energies that are not in that alignment simply may not enter this circle.
Notice if you have any particular intentions to draw into this circle with you.
You may be hoping for clarity,
Compassion,
Healing,
Insight,
Release.
When you're ready,
Imagine your person.
See them in your mind's eye,
Noticing what comes up first.
How do they look?
What is their mood or energy?
What age are they as you see them or what time of life are they in?
Now gently invite their highest self,
The most healed possible version of that person whose energy will be willing to enter into the circle and have this conversation with you openly.
With the permission of that high self,
Let them enter into the Maybe you're in a familiar place,
Or maybe all you notice is that person and their energy.
Wait until it feels really clear that they are willing to be here fully and to listen.
Remember that we're calling on this person's healed self,
Their highest soul,
Not necessarily the flawed human being that they are or were.
There may be elements of that human being here,
Of course,
And that's more than welcome.
But wait to ensure that this is a version of your person that you can talk to.
When you feel ready,
Begin.
Tell them whatever it is you'd like to say.
You can do this out loud or just in your mind.
And I'm going to give you some time to do this,
A few minutes,
But feel free to pause the meditation if you need more than I'm giving.
Once you've said your piece,
I invite you to listen now to their side of the story,
To whatever it is they might like to say to you.
Listen to them carefully.
Give this some time.
And again,
I'm going to give you some time to do this,
But feel free to pause if you need more.
There may be some conversation back and forth,
Which is fine.
And there may be periods of silence.
Whatever happens here is just right.
Simply notice and be here as fully as you can.
When this process feels complete enough for today,
Just see if there's anything else.
Anything you want to say or hear,
Anything else that needs to be expressed,
Which may not be words,
It may be a hug or a handshake,
High five.
This is your inner world,
So anything can happen here that needs to happen in this inner realm.
I'll give you a little bit more time.
Take as much as you need.
And when this feels like enough for today,
Knowing you can come back here anytime you need to,
I invite you to thank your person's highest self for being with you today.
Thank yourself for showing up to this vulnerable place.
Thank the circle of protection and the land for holding you.
Allow the circle to be closed,
But never broken.
Now,
Take a breath if that feels good,
Or a few.
And if you'd like,
You can write down some of your thoughts and insights.
I invite you to trust that this part of the work is done.
It needs no more today.
Trust your own instincts to see what,
If anything,
Should happen next.
If this becomes a real conversation,
If you want to write a letter,
Or nothing at all.
