This meditation is to learn how to feel and perceive your chakras.
It's important to note that when learning to sense and feel subtle energy,
That there may initially be a total absence or very little sensation to begin with.
This is okay.
These exercises and this meditation is designed to help you anchor your attention in the areas where these structures are in your anatomy and eventually with practice,
Sensation and increased sensitivity should arise.
The chakras are located along the central channel.
The central channel,
Also known as the sheshamna,
Runs along the central vertical axis of the energy field and the physical body.
The easy way to locate it is to put your attention in the center of your spine.
The channel runs from above the head to beneath the pelvis.
And all along that channel are vibrational nodes,
Known as chakras.
To strengthen and develop our perception of the chakras,
I'm going to guide you along the central channel to find each of the nodes.
The important thing is to notice what your sensations are.
Notice what information arises in your consciousness.
If you have a hard time perceiving the area that I'm directing your attention,
Don't worry.
Do the best you can.
The method we're going to use in this meditation is simple,
Bare attention.
And that is to place your awareness in these areas and notice what you notice and nothing more.
This will result in increased sensitivity to these areas.
It's very simple and very effective.
See that you're comfortable and sitting upright.
Keeping the spine straight and the body erect enables greater perception of this vertical channel.
Scan with your attention up and down the central channel.
It's about as wide as an inch in diameter.
It can feel bigger and it can feel smaller.
Visualize it as a whole.
What do you notice?
Are there areas that are hard to perceive?
Is one side more prominent than the other?
This is all valuable information and don't try and change anything.
Just notice what arises in your awareness.
Let's begin at the top of the central channel,
The top of your head.
This is the crown chakra.
This point is in the center and apex of the top of the head.
Place your attention there and see if you can feel a node,
A vibration,
A quality,
Even a magnetic one that you're drawn into at the place of the seventh chakra.
The chakra centers are not large.
Imagine a spherical node about one to two inches in diameter.
It can be challenging to place your attention in the center of a chakra.
It also may be that you feel nothing at all.
Simply place your attention in the area of the anatomy that we're discussing,
The crown chakra.
Now moving down to the sixth chakra.
This is in the center of your head.
A way to move from the seventh to the sixth is to move vertically along the central channel down from seven into six.
Notice all along the way,
Where is it easy to place your attention?
Where is it challenging?
Can you feel a vibrational center?
Can you feel a magnetic pull?
Maybe you're getting images,
Colors,
Associated thoughts.
Allow your mind to relax and to observe the space of awareness as you scan these areas in your system.
Now moving from the sixth chakra down to the fifth.
This is the throat chakra.
It's located at the base of the neck.
Navigate your attention from the sixth chakra down the central channel and approach the fifth.
What have you noticed along the way?
Is there vibration?
Is there information?
Now move your attention down from the fifth chakra to the fourth.
The heart chakra is at the level of the diaphragm.
Descend the vertical channel until you approach the heart chakra.
Feel into the heart chakra with your observational presence.
It is of significant importance to the overall energy dynamics of the field.
From there,
Let's move down to the solar plexus chakra.
This is about three to four inches beneath the heart chakra,
Behind the pancreas,
And in front of the kidneys.
As you descend on the vertical channel and you approach the solar plexus,
What do you notice?
What do you observe?
Have you gotten more useful information about where it is easy to place your attention as we've moved up and down the central channel?
Over time,
You can build a comprehensive map about your own energy field and your ability to be aware of different areas in it.
From the solar plexus chakra,
We'll move down to the sacral,
Moving your attention down the vertical channel and noticing the quality,
The vibrational quality,
Or simply the quality of your awareness in general as you move down the channel.
The sacral chakra is located in the pelvis,
Right in the crux of the sacral bone.
Do you feel a vibrational node?
Do you get any information that's relevant?
Remember,
Simply placing your attention along the central channel is the object of this exercise.
You're finding as best you can the vibrational centers called the chakras.
It doesn't matter how well you're feeling anything in particular,
But rather that you're developing your ability to be attentive and conscious in these areas of the energy system.
Now moving down from the sacrum into the root chakra.
The root chakra is located at the perineum.
This is between the anus and the sexual organs.
If you follow your coccyx bone forward another inch or so,
That is also a way to demarcate the root chakra.
Feel into the quality here.
What do you notice?
To conclude,
Quickly scan over the central channel.
What have you noticed and learned over the course of this meditation?
Are there particular areas where it was easy or hard to place your attention?
Was there any information that was relevant at any of the nodal centers,
An image or a memory?
Did you feel a particular vibration or magnetic pull?
Or where was it that you felt it particularly challenging to place your attention?
This concludes the meditation and exercise to learn to feel your chakras.
