Hello there,

Beautiful little one.

My name is Kelly and I'd like to tell you a bedtime story about King Midas and the Golden Touch.

But before we get started,

Go ahead and just snuggle down in your bed.

Having a stuffed animal or something that feels good to you.

Allow your head to just rest on your pillow and bring the covers up to your chin.

And then go ahead and take a big deep breath in through your nose.

And then blow it out your mouth.

And then just go ahead and breathe in whatever way feels right.

And just count your breaths,

One on the inhale,

Two on the exhale,

Three on the inhale,

Four on the exhale.

And keep breathing and counting until you reach 10 breaths.

All right,

Well done.

Now just go ahead and breathe just normally and now bring your attention to your toes.

Wiggle your toes a little bit under the covers.

Notice your feet.

Are they warm or are they cold?

And then pay attention to your legs,

The bottoms of your legs and your knees and the tops of your legs.

And come into your hips and your butt.

Maybe feeling the pressure of the bed against your hips and your bottom.

Bringing your attention into your belly,

Noticing as you breathe the rise and the fall of your belly.

Coming up into your chest and then noticing your back as it rests on the bed.

Bringing your attention into your shoulders and down into your arms,

All the way down to your fingertips and maybe give them a little wiggle too.

Bring your attention to your neck and your chin and your face.

And as you're bringing attention to your face,

Just gently allow your eyes to close if they haven't already.

And just gently listen to my words as I tell you about King Midas.

Once upon a time in ancient Greece,

There lived a king named Midas.

He had a loving daughter.

He named her Marigold.

Although King Midas had immense wealth in his kingdom's treasury,

He was always dissatisfied and unhappy.

He was greedy for more wealth and wished he had more gold in his treasure.

One day as he was counting gold coins and admiring his treasure rooms,

A wise Greek god appeared before him who offered the king a wish for some of his good deeds.

Without wasting any time,

King Midas quickly wished that everything he touched should turn into gold.

The Greek god granted his wish promptly and disappeared.

King Midas was delighted about his wish being granted.

He went and touched the apple tree in the garden.

To his excitement,

The tree turned into gold instantly.

He was so thrilled that he went on touching random things all around him which turned into gold immediately.

His joy knew no bounds and he was overwhelmed with excitement.

Soon he was hungry and he returned to his palace to eat some food.

However,

Even though he was starving,

He was disappointed that he couldn't eat anything because whatever he touched turned into gold.

Seeing him frustrated and troubled,

His daughter Marigold came running and threw her arms around her father to comfort him.

I bet you know what happened.

To the king's dismay,

Even his daughter turned to gold as he touched her.

King Midas' face turned pale and his heart sank with pain and grief.

He was horrified upon seeing his daughter turn into a golden statue.

He cried in anguish and regretted his wish for the golden touch.

In no time,

He realized his greed was the biggest ever flaw and he begged the Greek God to take back the wish.

Soon the Greek God appeared before him and felt pity for his condition and took back the golden touch wish from him.

Further,

The wise God instructed King Midas to take a dip in the pond of his palace and sprinkle that water on all those things which he wanted to change back to its previous condition.

He blindly followed the instruction and soon his daughter Marigold was back to herself,

Back to normal when he sprinkled the water on her.

He was elated to get back his beloved daughter and promised to stop being greedy from then on.

King Midas realized his mistake in being greedy and wanting too much and he was able to live happily ever after from then on with his daughter Marigold.

And as you become more and more sleepy,

Your arms and legs feeling heavy and sinking into the bed,

Listening to the sound of my voice and perhaps some sounds around you.

You can pay attention to the rhythm of your breath,

Getting slower and easier,

Your eyelids feeling very heavy and knowing that you can drift off into peaceful slumber and tomorrow you will wake refreshed and energized and ready to start your day.

Sleep well,

Little one.

Namaste.
