Hey there,
This is Jen with Laughing Lotus Wellness.
Welcome to our meditation practice.
Good morning everyone.
Welcome in.
This is our Lotus morning meditation.
So first I invite you to stand up and stretch nice and tall,
Reaching your arms towards the ceiling or the sky,
Wherever you are.
Like you might do in bed the first thing in the morning,
You might even stand on your tippy toes to kind of get that extra beautifully long stretch.
Greeting your day with a fresh set of eyes and moving our bodies in an awesome way to just set the tone for your day.
And relaxing down onto your feet,
Dropping your arms to the side of your body and just slowly begin to shake your hands a little bit at your sides.
All the way up to your arms,
Just getting some energy flowing in your body.
Waking it up by filling it full of radiant light and energy.
And releasing that down and once again,
We're just going to come into a comfortable position of some kind.
So that could either be seated or lying down.
And what we're going to do before we even get started with our meditation is we're just going to take a few moments to do some audible breaths,
Which is one of my very favorite things to do to just really come into the present.
So what I'd like you to do now is just pull your breath all the way down into your belly.
Nice full inhale and audibly exhale like a sigh.
Doing that again,
Inhaling down deep into the belly,
Into the rib cage,
Into the chest and audibly exhale that out.
Last one and best breath yet.
Getting that breath all the way in,
Nice deep inhale into the belly,
Into the ribs,
Into the chest and audibly exhale that out.
Just coming into the space.
So now I would like for you to just find a comfortable place again,
Wherever you're seated in preparation for our meditation.
We're just going to talk briefly,
If you don't know anything about the Lotus,
I wanted to share about this beautiful blossom and it's my brand.
And as a clinical social worker,
One of the basis of my belief system was our ability to begin again and again and again.
So if you don't know anything about the Lotus,
It is this incredibly beautiful flower that sinks down into the water,
Muck or pond,
Wherever it resides each night,
Only to emerge the next morning pristine and fresh.
It's like a little miracle.
But more than that,
We can take notes from this incredible creation.
We too can begin again each and every day.
As humans,
We make mistakes,
We have challenging days,
Struggles,
And we need to have the ability to start again,
To be reborn,
So to speak.
Each and every day we are granted the opportunity to show up renewed and with a different lens and tension and presence.
So today our meditation will focus on just that.
So at this time,
I invite you to gently close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Sitting nice and tall,
But not rigid.
In your mind,
Imagining a beautiful room of your choosing.
A warm and inviting space with a cozy chair by a big window.
Sitting in that chair,
You will face the window which faces east where the sun rises.
So now behind your eyelids,
You begin to feel the sun peek up over the horizon by the shift from the shade of black in your eyelids to a warm orange.
The light almost enough to make you squint,
But not quite.
You also feel the warmth of the sun across your face.
But as you sit here in this warm sunshine basking in the glow of a new day,
You also notice that your body is at ease.
It is completely at peace,
Feeling ready to take on the day,
Energized,
But at peace,
Awake at peace.
Just inhaling here and exhaling here.
Breathing again,
Then exhaling that out.
Further,
Your mind is at ease as you recall the story of the lotus in your mind,
Imagining a pond outside your window.
The pond is surrounded by weeping willows whose branches are floating on a beautiful and slight breeze.
Inhaling that fresh air in and exhaling it out.
There are lily pads,
Sounds of insects,
Birds flying,
And a swan lazily making its way around the pond.
And as you breathe here,
You begin to notice that not far away the water begins to move just slightly.
As it parts,
A beautiful and radiant white lotus breaks the surface and slowly,
Slowly,
Slowly makes its way to the surface.
You marvel at the pristine quality of the bloom,
Its petals open to the sun to bask in the light and warmth much like you are with your face to the sun.
There is a deep knowing that this incredible blossom teaches us to awake every day knowing we can begin again.
Reborn into each day just like the lotus.
Knowing that no matter what muck we may feel immersed in,
That we wake up anew each and every morning.
In this space here,
As you breathe,
Even inhales and even exhales,
Take a moment to set an intention for your day.
Something like,
I am at peace.
I am facing this day with gratitude in my heart.
I am capable of anything I choose to do.
Pausing here in this moment,
As you breathe,
Consider what you would like for your day as you blossom like the lotus.
Now,
Taking that intention you've created and in your mind's eye placing that in your heart space.
See it as a lotus.
Allow its space in your heart to reside as a reminder that you have an intention and also the right to begin again.
As you sit in your room with your face to the sun,
Feeling energized,
Whole,
Peaceful,
Present,
Take in that felt sense of this story of the lotus and the one that you placed in your heart.
Feeling reborn,
Renewed and ready for the day.
Beginning to return to your body and breath here,
Slowly coming back into your space,
Wiggling fingers and toes ever so slightly,
Dropping your chin to your chest and beginning to open your eyes when ready.
Once again,
Standing up or from your seat,
Taking a nice good morning stretch and standing to greet your day with a heart full of renewal and ready to greet the day with intention and beautiful lotus energy.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Until next time,
This is Jen wishing you love,
Light and blessings on your journey.
