Hi,
This meditation is for the days where you really can't get out of your own head and your own way.
The idea of meditating is overwhelming.
You are perhaps in fight-or-flight mode or you really want to achieve a lot and the idea of sitting and perhaps not doing it right is absolutely overwhelming for you.
It comes from the first instruction I had with my current meditation teacher.
He said to not meditate,
To just sit.
The idea is that for once you can give yourself a break and not do anything,
Not following instructions.
You can forget everything you know,
You've been taught or you believe when it comes to meditation.
Because right now no one is asking you to meditate.
If you're sitting or even if you're lying down because you can't sit,
You've achieved,
You've succeeded,
Done.
You can set any agenda aside because that box is ticked already.
Usually,
You're given time to adjust your posture,
You know,
Settle.
But right now,
Remember that you've already achieved sitting.
That's all that's required of you.
Sitting.
You don't need to worry about your breath,
About your thoughts,
Your emotion,
Your willingness to meditate or not,
Your willingness to sit.
Just giving you a few minutes where you can actually do nothing,
Nothing at all.
You can sit and be like the rock at the very bottom of a river.
Just lying there,
Life is happening around you.
Maybe you feel the water,
The sound,
And you don't have to do anything about it.
You're like a rock in the riverbed.
No one is expecting anything of you.
You have no life goal.
You're simply existing and that's enough.
Maybe thoughts are visiting.
Maybe you're questioning what you're doing,
Why you're doing it.
It's worth it.
Let it happen.
Maybe you can feel a lot of emotions going through you.
Excitement,
Fear,
Relief,
Fatigue,
A mix of it all.
Just come back to sitting.
That's all there is right now.
It's all that is true for you.
Being in your body,
Letting it carry you,
Letting your flesh and bones carry you during this non-meditation.
Perhaps it's a relief.
Perhaps it's good to do nothing for once,
To have no plan,
To not be able to fail,
To not be able to succeed either.
Perhaps it's strange.
It doesn't really matter.
Keep it as simple as possible.
It's just you sitting.
You can do that no matter your circumstances,
No matter your emotional state.
Just need yourself,
A body and that's all.
And perhaps sitting here with no instruction whatsoever can be a permission for you to just experience.
Experience being here in the world,
Sitting.
Ah,
How good it feels to just be sitting.
Nothing else,
Nothing more,
Nothing less.
Soon you'll resume your activities.
Maybe get back on the doing,
On some activity,
Which is great.
Just know that anytime you need,
You can take one minute or two or three and simply sit.
Not try to meditate,
Not try to do any spiritual practice.
Just give yourself permission to exist.
Thank you for practicing with me.
