Today's meditation is a unique mix of Guru Padmasambhava's advice on not labeling thoughts,
Cognition,
Um.
.
.
Kashmiri Shaiv tantric.
Meditation of childlike awareness.
The idea again is to deepen your awakening.
So rather than visiting some of the basic concepts.
We dive deep.
So close your eyes and let go of any sense of anticipation.
And see that the experience that you are having has the signature of the reality.
The current experience is included in the grand reality.
And the self that is right in the middle of this experiencing.
Is the awareness only.
It is you the awareness that is life.
Having a life experience.
And lot of you have that very clear.
Experientially clear.
And this clarity is not the clarity that you could describe to someone.
This is the self-awareness aspect.
Of knowing,
You know by yourself,
From your experience.
The clear understanding that you are having this experience.
The words,
The sensations,
The knowing.
Is all taking place in you the awareness.
And as you know,
You soften.
You soften.
Any impulse that there may be.
Because you start from this home,
There is nowhere else to go.
And you know the softening effortlessness.
Ease your tune.
Is the skill.
You are using by not using any effort.
So you are relaxing from the get-go.
Breath is already softened.
The body is already softened.
The mine is already fluid.
Thoughts are let go of.
Nothing is sticking.
You know that the life experiences are like the flow of the river.
And you know that you the awareness.
The Experiencer.
Deserve.
Remains untouched as you watch the flow coming and going.
And how wonderful it is that you start from here.
You are starting.
Which could take years of cultivation.
You are starting from there.
And throughout your meditation.
The softening,
The effortlessness is also on your face because there is a gentle smile of letting go.
Even the deepest understanding.
Is like golf.
Even the revelation.
Is let go of because by now you know that they work on their own.
They clear your mirror on their own.
So there is no anxiety.
No micro holding on to anything.
And that is the subject of our discussion.
Meditation today.
So first and foremost.
The tantric meditation of childlike awareness.
You know that the newborn child has formed no concept.
No memory.
Of nothing whatsoever.
So in your meditation,
In your awareness,
You are becoming like childlike awareness.
Bodily sensations are felt right now but you have not given a concept,
A name to it.
A sensation on your palm as you feel right now.
Is not called harm.
The sensation on your face,
The smile.
Is not this smile now.
The sensation of the breath.
Is just the modulation of your own awareness.
Without any memory,
You wouldn't know the newborn child,
The shape,
The color.
Or even that this is the part of you and the mother you are seeing in some figurative way is not part of you.
You the newborn child is the clear expression of awareness.
Everything is the modulation of yourself.
The room in which you are.
Is taking place in you.
You are intimate.
You appreciate the immediacy of this experience.
There is no boundaries.
Between the space of the room and the body.
That childlike awareness.
Is what you are.
And this child continues to smile.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing to explain.
Just this experience.
Only believing and only living this experience.
Nobody has nothing more than there.
Immediate intimate experience of awareness.
That much is clear to you.
So continue to smile as you are allowing even the body and all the sensations of the body.
To come and go as if it is.
Notice the modulation of the deeper reality,
The awareness.
Body is also part of the reverse flow.
It is fluid.
It is changing.
That you would experience.
Only watches.
Body has grown from new born child to whatever level.
But the experiencer has not changed.
And you remain.
As the observer.
The Experiencer.
And even his experiencer and observer.
You are not aloof.
You are not separate.
This is the flow taking place in you.
So the experiences are the modulation of your own awareness.
And you have also known that body is the modulation of your awareness.
Mind is the modulation of your awareness.
And through all this revelation and knowing and confirmation You just smile.
This is the smile of knowing.
This is the smile of letting go.
This is the smile of you experiencing the deepening of your own awakening.
This smile of yours is the pure expression of their happiness.
You have been looking for.
In objects,
Relationships,
Substances.
Experiences.
And you find this happiness.
In this effortless smile.
Of knowing your true nature.
So valuable.
Okay,
We're switching.
Continue to remain a newborn child-like awareness.
So what that now you know the meanings of the words.
Unlike the newborn child.
That is the beauty.
That you can understand the words and still remain like a new born child.
See that the words are not creating concepts that you are holding on to.
See that the words are not taking you to memories.
See that your experience remains fresh,
Immediate,
Intimate.
The truest expression of your awareness.
You are not labelling body parts as body.
Sensations as evidence of this or that body parts.
You are essentially letting go of labels.
And the labels is the word we will use for concepts for the remaining of this meditation.
So when I say label you understand that I am referring to mental concepts.
In Tibet.
The Guru.
But miss some power-up.
Is the most revered Buddhist guru.
He is asked this question by Lady Kachan.
From where do all that appears and exists,
The phenomena of sansara and nirvana first arise?
The master replied,
All that appears and exists.
The phenomena of samsara and nirvana.
Arise from the solidified Habitual Tendencies of Labelling solidified habitual tendencies of labeling.
Then master talks about three types of labelling.
Mental labels,
Cognitive labels and verbalized labels.
And the lady Shogal asked the master,
How does one become free from attaching labels?
And the master replied,
When you are free from the thought activities of mental labelling,
You will be free from the cognitive labels,
The good and evil.
And when you are free from that you will be free from attaching the names of verbalizing.
Labels.
And by freeing and by being free from that multitude of dream habits.
You are free from labelling names.
And by being free from that you will be free from the label Bardo.
Free from that you will be free from the label birth and death.
And by being free from this,
You will have stopped the stream of samsaric rebirths.
And our next phase of meditation will explore that.
So continue to smile.
As you let go.
Of the concept.
That this reading has formed in your mind.
And again you become the light of your awareness.
Ready to know whatever comes.
In the field of your own awareness.
So as you sit with your smile of light,
Know that the thoughts that are appearing in your mind are nothing but concepts.
You Attach.
Meaning to the thoughts.
You label.
Meaning?
To a sensation,
A modulation of your own awareness.
And the whole world comes out of that.
For example,
Take a toad.
Any thought in your mind.
Maybe a thought.
That The sky is beyond the clouds.
The sky is beyond the clouds.
See how it forms a mental picture.
And see how you have associated meanings to these words,
To these thoughts.
When you say these words slowly,
The sky is beyond.
The clouds.
These three words,
When uttered slowly,
Form three thoughts.
See you again.
The sky is beyond the clouds.
And together.
They found another.
Concept.
But if you divide them into three,
Into three separate thoughts,
And see where they come from.
And where do they disappear?
The sky.
When you say first the sky,
Where did it come from?
And when you say ease beyond.
Where did this guy disappear?
See it clearly.
That these thoughts came from Eurovenice.
Disappeared in your awareness.
In your awareness you gave it a concept.
A simple thought was turned into a concept of sky.
The biggest object we know,
The sky.
A simple Vibration of your awareness created the biggest object you know.
In your own field of awareness.
See it clearly.
What was there before the concept of this big sky?
What remains after the concept Big Sky disappears.
And what was while the concept was formed right there.
There was nothing more than your own field of awareness.
See it clearly.
That this labeling creates.
Yarr!
World.
And this labelling is what Master Padmasambhava was referring to.
If it is not clear again,
Do the experiment.
Is beyond.
The clouds.
Just with the three micro-vibrations in your awareness you saw the biggest object out there.
That is all along the way.
All there was,
Was this awareness.
Essentially It was just this.
Field of consciousness.
Vibrating within itself,
Modulating within itself.
Allowing you to play the game of labeling.
So the whole world is manifested.
This is what is happening.
Lotus Master is referring to.
Continue to smile.
And see how you can easily also let go of the label.
Like that newborn child did in the beginning of this meditation.
The child did it with the body parts.
The concept of body parts.
But the same child can now do.
That exercise.
With the thoughts.
And the labels of the thoughts.
Continue to smile and see the power of recognizing.
That labels create.
The whole world.
Within your mind.
And experientially speaking,
All that there is,
Is the vibration of awareness.
As soon as you revoke the label.
See what remains.
For example,
Gagan Badalo se pare hai.
Those who do not know Hindi For you,
This didn't mean anything.
But it was,
The sky is beyond the clouds.
See how different vibrations of words create different words in different people.
Even if you know this at superficial level.
See how the words change.
The vibration and the labeling of the words in your mind creates the whole world.
At this level.
Of your awakening.
You are not assessing things at superficial level anymore.
And yet you do this effortlessly,
Lightly,
With the sincerity of the honest scientist.
Continue to smile.
And let go of the labels.
You could start with a smaller pain point of your life.
And see that if you do not give a label to that smaller pain point What is the existence of that smaller pain point?
Nothing more than a vibration in your awareness.
That it is your labeling.
That creates the whole little monster out of it.
See that if you revoke that label What remains?
The vibrating soup of awareness only.
Master says,
By revoking labels.
You become free from the multitude of dream habits.
The mental labels create cognitive labels.
Which are the built-up habitual tendencies.
See clearly.
And again.
Go back to the familiar thoughts.
The sky.
Is beyond.
The cloud.
And see how you can allow yourself to play with labels.
And how you can also revoke.
The labels.
With doing this you are not degrading.
The meaning of phenomena,
The meaning of events in your body,
In your mind and in your world.
You are not rejecting them.
You are not downgrading.
But you are upgrading.
You are assigning the reality to them.
The actual essential.
Reality of those events.
Truly seen as it is.
Not via the habitual tendencies of labelling.
And remember very well that you retain the ability to give labels And you will see again and again that this tendency to give labels creates the whole world of joy and sadness.
Continue to smile as this understanding deepens.
As it finds a resting place in your awareness.
From there,
It will continue to shine.
From this resting place.
It will remind the existence of this understanding when you need it the most.
Even after years you may seem to have forgotten this.
Understanding,
It will show itself.
This lamp,
This light of this very understanding.
Has created a space in your awareness now.
Protect it.
Silly.
Experience it.
Love it.
It will guide.
It will become your friend.
Remember the simple word Label.
And you will come back to it.
And see how we have given a label.
To this label.
And all along the way,
There was nothing more than your own awareness.
See nothing ever gets lost.
The river continues to flow.
The bygones be bygones.
But all along the way.
There was nothing ever.
More than this.
And this Awareness doesn't go anywhere.
It vibrates within itself.
It allows itself to take shapes.
Creates the whole universe within itself.
Yet,
Nothing ever.
Of essence is lost.
See clearly.
That you have no evidence.
That these observer this field of awareness.
Has diminished.
Even a tiny bit.
Through all your life experiences.
And that is same for everyone.
Because it is same for everyone.
Because it only exists.
In the name and the label of us.
And now where else you go once you recognize this but smile.
From many of us.
Sitting in light of this recognition.
For long period of time.
Most pleasurable effortless activity.
A non-activity.
So those of you you may continue to seek.
And others.
I need to do something.
Attend to something.
You are welcome to open your eyes and see how the world of labels flooding.
Remained effortless.
There is no need.
To micro-analyse every label.
There is no need.
To expect.
Something else from this understanding.
But knowing that you have the ability to revoke labels is the starting point.
You are loosening the habitual tendencies.
Of labelling.
Unconsciously.
And when you sit in meditation like this You can continue to sit without labels.
See the breath as the moment of awareness.
See the body as the flow of awareness.
See the toll.
And steps.
And the whole world.
Then becomes more and more evident as just that.
