The Wound is a place where the light enters you.
A deeply moving quote from Rumi,
In day three of Rumi's Reflection video series.
No one wants their hard season,
Right?
Nobody wants to live difficulty or struggle in their lives.
But everyone,
Almost everyone,
Grows from one.
Pain can do three things.
It can harden you.
It can hide you.
It can humanize you.
So I'm asking you today,
What did one difficult chapter in your life teach you?
What did one difficult chapter in your life teach you?
Sometimes it's boundaries.
Sometimes it's self-trust.
Sometimes it's discernment.
Sometimes it's empathy.
Sometimes it's faith.
The scar becomes wisdom if you process the pain.
It's healthier to live from your scar,
The healed wound,
Than the wound itself.
So your micro-practice today,
Think of one hard season in your life.
And instead of asking,
Oh why me?
Why did this happen?
Why does it have to happen to me and now?
Instead of that,
Replace it with,
How can this build me?
What does this teach me?
What am I learning?
And how can I grow?
Any one of those questions will help gain clarity,
Go deeper,
And allow the pain to serve you,
Give the pain purpose.
An additional journal prompt would be,
Let's see,
What strength comes from something I once resented?
What strength comes from something I once resented?
Feeling like I have to do something,
I have to speak to someone,
I have to take on a job or career you once resented,
But how did it strengthen you?
And a beautiful song to underwrite this whole experience is a song by Coldplay called Fix You.
If you can find an instrumental version,
That would be better so the words don't interrupt you.
And why this song?
Because it becomes a vehicle to allow the emotions that come from this practice to move through you without overwhelming you.
So that's day three complete.
I look forward to seeing your reflections if you want to share them.
Thank you for joining Furumi's Reflection video series and I'll see you tomorrow for the next one.
Bye.
