Serenity the Snowy Owl tells a story about kindness.
Meet Serenity the Snowy Owl.
Serenity is a beautiful,
Wise owl with pure white feathers that flutter softly in the snow.
She lives in a magical forest where the stars twinkle like diamonds and every night she wakes up just to tell you bedtime stories.
Tonight Serenity has a special story just for you to help you feel calm,
Happy and ready for a good night's sleep.
Hello Snugglebugs!
Tonight I have a special story for you about a little rabbit named Rosie.
Rosie lived in our magical forest in a cozy burrow with her family.
Rosie was a shy,
Gentle rabbit always looking for ways to help others but sometimes Rosie found it hard to be kind especially when she felt unsure or anxious.
One sunny afternoon Rosie was hopping through the forest when she saw a little bird with a broken wing.
The bird looked scared and in pain.
Without hesitation Rosie rushed to help wrapping the bird's wing with a soft leaf and offering words of comfort.
But Rosie realised she couldn't help the bird to get better on her own and that it wouldn't be able to fly again until its wing was mended.
She knew she needed to find the bird's mummy but she knew the mummy bird was a big fierce eagle with sharp yellow claws.
The thought made her feel anxious and scared.
Can you imagine Rosie wanting to help the injured bird?
Rosie remembered how I had taught her a special way to embrace kindness.
Whenever you see someone in need close your eyes take a deep breath and imagine how you would feel if you were in their shoes.
Think about how you can help even in small ways.
Feeling braver Rosie gently told the little bird to wait while she went to get help.
Then she scampered as quickly as she could to the old oak tree at the edge of the forest.
She remembered that kindness was the most important thing and with a trembling voice called out,
Mummy bird your child has a broken wing please follow me.
The mummy bird flew straight to the ground and said jump on my back little rabbit hold tight there's no time to lose.
Now Rosie really was nervous.
Rabbits don't fly but she agreed and hopped on.
In less than a minute they were by the little bird's side.
Now she knew the little bird was safe and Rosie felt a warm glow inside her heart.
She realised that even though it wasn't easy being kind made her feel happy and fulfilled.
Let's do one more thing before we say goodnight.
Sit comfortably,
Close your eyes if you like and take a big deep breath in and let it out slowly.
Imagine a soft warm light surrounding you making you feel calm and safe.
Feel your body getting lighter and more relaxed with each breath.
Imagine your own special place where you feel kindness and compassion.
It could be a sunny meadow,
A cosy nest or even a peaceful forest like ours.
Kindness is like a warm hug for the heart.
Just like Rosie you too can embrace kindness and spread love wherever you go.
Whenever you see someone in need remember to close your eyes,
Take a deep breath and imagine how you would feel if you were them.
Goodnight Snugglebugs.
May your dreams be filled with magic and peace.
