What is the difference between being selfish and having a healthy love for yourself? Sometimes it feels like we need permission to take quality time-out for ourselves. This 6-minute exercise invites us to contemplate four questions, through which we can reconnect with an intuitive and atmospheric love for ourselves. With David, British male voice. No bells.

Hello and welcome to this Mind With Heart exercise called Healthy Love For Myself.

First of all,

Just getting comfortable in a seated posture.

With the back straight and the body relaxed.

The body is still,

Breathing naturally.

In this exercise I invite you to consider four questions.

The first question,

How do I imagine my own flourishing?

What does my own complete happiness look like?

Feel like?

By imagining our own flourishing in the mind's eye,

It becomes a possibility.

It's as if we're making it happen.

It is happening.

We're giving ourselves permission to flourish,

To be completely happy.

Second question,

What would I like to receive from the world,

From those around me,

Both near and far,

In order to bring about this flourishing?

What would I like to receive from the world?

And again imagining that this can happen,

That this is happening.

Imagining that we are receiving everything that we need to flourish completely.

Third question,

Which qualities would I like to enhance in myself,

In order to flourish completely?

This is an exercise in boosting our capacity for wellbeing,

Focusing on the qualities of mind,

Positive qualities that we would like to enhance and grow.

And finally the fourth question,

What would I like to offer the world?

As a completely flourishing person,

What is my gift to the world?

And now releasing this reflection,

Imagination,

And simply resting in an atmosphere of healthy love for ourselves.

Love here is wishing this person,

In this case ourselves,

To be genuinely happy and be well.

And as we close this exercise and move into the rest of the day,

We can just quietly appreciate this quality moment that we have spent cultivating healthy love for ourselves.
